This is interesting. I've heard the story about a nurse who was told to be very careful how she responded to an Alzheimer patient. The patient would wait every day for the return of their spouse. It was up to the nurse to respond with a "Yes" or "No". No meant the spouse didn't come, and yes meant they had come.
The Yes answer brought great relief to the patient, leading to a happy day and the anticipation of tomorrow.
A No answer sent this patient into utter depression, hopelessness, and grief.
The problem was, the spouse was dead, but in the mind of this person was the ability to believe they actually came with a simple, Yes, they were here.
