Appreciate that.

As far as Scriptures to back up the "one-step" I think that the Bible overwhelmingly says that we are justified/saved by faith.
Over and over again it says we are to believe in Jesus.
Baptism is mentioned as a secondary thing because it was a practice in the early church associated with conversion.
I would suggest that you stop "trying" to believe in either the one-step or three-step doctrine.

Oh, I understand we have to believe first. I believed in Jesus even when I thought I couldn't since I was raised Jewish.
I understand also that we are saved by faith, but Paul also said faith without works is dead.

Don't worry about it. Leave that to God.

Well said. That's exactly what the Lord told me a few days ago..."to let Him worry about it". I just love how He knows exactly what's on our minds and hearts!

Two suggestions:
Read Romans chapters 3 and 4 several times over a period of time. Read them in different translations and see what Paul is saying.
I would also suggest a web site called In Christ Alone.
http://www.inchristalone.org/
There is a lot of stuff on there and some of it is pretty long and tiring
but he is an ex-UPC minister and therefore has some knowledge about the UPC.

Thanks for the tip.

Mike Hayes? I don't really know him. He married one of the Parker sisters. They used to sing with their brother as The Parkers quite a few years ago.
Because the girls were were not real thin, some people referred to them as "The Porkers." As far as I know he has left the UPC and would now be considered a "one-stepper." Many years ago when he was going to TBC in Houston he got onto my brother-in-law because he (my brother-in-law) was not UPC but was going to a UPC Bible School. Then another young man from Ohio beat up Mike for getting on my brother-in-law. That was all kid stuff done many years ago.

I feel like we should know each other...lol! I'm very familiar with the Parkers. Bro. Parker pastored a church near where I live and a dear friend of mine attended his church. He has started a new work in another state.
Mike Hayes has also become trinitarian according to his church's website.
I don't believe in the trinity and never will. Not that I don't or won't associate with them, I attend a Foursquare church now as I can't find an independant oneness church anywhere near where I live.
Thanks again for your replies...appreciate you taking the time.
