Ok, we'll cross out "Formula" if that makes you feel better. Let's go with, "Sentence", "Truth", "Those three activities".

They never appear again in the bible! They are NEVER reinforced in ANY of the teachings that Paul did to the early church. Don't you think he would have talked about it somewhere? He told them how to do communion, how to conduct services, and he talked about salvation many times. But he NEVER said, "repent, be baptized in Jesus' name, and be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues" one single time. Nor did he say it in any of his missionary journeys or when called before any leaders in the book of Acts.

Why? Why wouldn't he include something that is SOOOOO important?

I just showed it to you in my earlier post concerning Romans. Why do we keep trying to look past the message? I don't understand it. If Peter preached it, that's it. There is no other message. It's like we are trying to find two options for convenience sake. There are no other options.

Re: NOW, When Is Someone Saved?

Shouldn't we place the same emphasis on things that the bible does?

You did? Where in Romans? Romans says to repent, be baptized in Jesus' name and to receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues?

Re: NOW, When Is Someone Saved?

Paul brought up the subject of salvation dozens of times and never mentioned the "Three Steps." In II Corinthians 11 he talks about all the things he went through, PLUS the leading of the churches. Man, he was pretty negligent if he never told them how to be saved.

You're killing me. He's talking to saved people - "to the church of....." Look it up.

Again, gotta run! We will never agree on this.

Didn't Peter say, water does now save us? I'm only bringing that up because we need to take the "whole" counsel of God into effect and let that speak to us.
I fully realize that salvation is a gift, there is absolutley nothing whatsoever I could possibly do to earn that gift. I don't know how to say it any clearer.
I get the feeling that those who believe in the obedience to Acts 2:38 as the act of "obeying the Gospel" are labeled as those who think they can or must do something to earn the free gift of God's astounding grace and gift of salvation.
Nothing could be further from the truth, at least in my heart and mind.
I stand amazed that God ever reached out to me, drew me by His Spirit, saved me, justified me and has prepared a place for me to be with Him forever!
Nobody knows better than I anything I do to try and merit His grace falls flat at the mere thought.
I'm convinced that when God spoke thru Peter to say, repent (even repentance is an action, it's something you do), be baptized in the Name and you will recieve the gift of the HG, He meant it.
God bless!

I know, 'cause you'll never be right as long as you believe what you do!!

And the "He was talking to saved people" argument is SO ridiculous. He was talking to people that took communion but he told them how. He was talking to people that gave, but he told them how to give. He was talking to people that had the gifts of the Spirit, but he told them how they were to be used.

But suddenly, "Oh he was talking to saved people, so he didn't tell them how to be saved."

Worst argument in exegetical history.

A big emphasis was put on the "Gospels, Acts, and Epistles" lesson in our doctrine class at ABI. That was covered several times.

You do realize the people he was speaking to was the body of Christ, these were Chrisitans.
You mention II Corth. 11, in verse 2 he says, "For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I bethroted you to one husband, that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin." He has already preached the Gospel to them, and no doubt they have already obeyed, so why would he tell them again, he hasn't even re-preached the Gospel in this chapter.
The epistles are the letters written to the saints. They are already saved.
