You didn't mention the brand but I am using Light O Rama. You can get a starter package of 16 channel controller plus software for $378 on their site. Light O Ramam holds a Chiristmas in July sale each year where they offer some significant price discounts.
If you are handy with a soldering iron you can save some money by buying their kits.
