In the 60s Nashville considered the Bakersfield sound too raw.

Is there still a Bakersfield sound? or has it passed away with the artists?

The Bakersfield style of guitar playing is doing alot of bends and doing pedal steel licks ,which Nashville pickers do now ,but Bakersfield pickers had that sound long before the rest of the nation did.

Serriously, what's up with the weird fixation some folks have with Lanny on this forum? Makes me worry sometimes.

Not to glamourize secular music but The Bakersound sound goes back to Tommy Collins and Wynn Stewart and became popular with Owens and Haggard and The Byrds and The Burrito brothers and such.
That style makes a nice country gospel sound.
