I agree.
I wouldn't have a problem with the measures if they were only performed on passengers who were potential threats. They should be placed into that category based on research and intelligence--yes, PROFILING!!!
I'm completely opposed to random selection and/or 100% participation.

If the TSA were to come out and say these were temporary measures because we're at war, and when terror threat was reduced the security would be reduced that would be helpful. I don't think that's the case, though.
I have a nephew still in Iraq, who will probably be moved to Afghanistan. I'm quite aware of what is going on, and that makes it even MORE important to stand up for freedom and against stupidity.
I'm not at all frustrated with my fellow Americans for complaining about the new measures. I'm proud of them for using their voices. The pat-downs and screenings are ridiculous because they are applied without common sense.

Well said.

The same feds hold a reverse position regarding illegals.
If the cops in Arizona had check points and stopped every one, we would protest. The DOJ says it is wrong for a trAffic stop in Arizona to include a check on citizenship. But the TSA says it must do a full and complete groping on every one that has a metal detected.
I set off an alarm just a few days ago when forgetting to remove my wrist watch.

Can things get anymore bass akwards????
Honestly, those in charge must have some kind of mental block. Common sense people need not apply. Common sense directives will not be entertained, never mind instituted.

I don't know if there is a petition out there. However, maybe you could start one. lol
I'd begin by getting the families of those who died in 9/11 to sign it first. That will show the American people we have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Actually there are designated threat levels. We've been at Orange since 9/11. Once the threat level returns to Green, I don't see any changes taking place.

I know that, Aquila.
What bothers me is the last sentence. And that's what bothers everyone else.

Political correctness is something that I think should be banished from the equation. Yes, I know they are increasingly recruiting Westerners to conduct terrorist activities. However, Israel doesn't mess with this politically correct ......... We are in absolute agreement here. And you might find it interesting, but many TSA employees would agree with us.

I don't think it bothers "everyone else". I talk to passengers throughout my day at work. Most that I talk to, especially world travelers, know and understand why we are doing what we're doing and what we're up against. The loud minority of people who whine about it are those who have no real counter terrorist security training, briefings on SSI relating to the issue, and are largely sucking down Twinkies complaining about having had to take off a wrist watch or getting a pat down if they REFUSE to be electronically screened.
Meanwhile our soldiers are getting shot at, bombed, and beheaded. I had to take off a wrist watch... I had to let some fat TSA agent pat me down with the back of his hands (standard procedure by the way). Oh the horrors.

Actually we've moved from Red to Orange to Yellow and back and forth a number of times.
But, like MB said... your last sentence is the disturbing part.
These actions are like a tax... they will never go away. This has become the American way of life. America is becoming a police state and it will never change unless the American people make a stand... a huge unprecedented stand. The police state mentality is one that doesn't give up it's hold. It is convinced of it's own necessity and suffers from illusions of legitimacy.
