Exactly.

I don't downplay the problems and issues that are there to be dealt with. Believe me. But they're not spirits. They're just stuff to deal with. Life isn't always easy, and sometimes it's very, very difficult and the things that happen leave lasting scars. But those scars aren't spirits. One thing I do know is that God *will* walk through that with a person who relies on Him. He will not abandon or leave anyone to struggle alone. And He'll provide opportunities for healing. His desire is for His people to be whole, in every sense of the word.

But those things aren't spirits.

I know it's easier to "cast something out" than it is to provide the discipleship, friendship, and accountability needed to help a person heal. But that doesn't mean it's a spirit just because someone decides to start casting things out. It works too, that's the sad part. It works, at least short term, because of the placebo effect. But how many of those people keep going back, seeking deliverance?

I *know* that a person who's possessed could not stand the presence of God. I do not know if I was, if so God has delivered me without any person casting anything out. But I *know* that I could not, not, not, not, not, not not stand the presence of God. COULD NOT STAND IT. It was physically painful. A person under that kind of influence CAN NOT seek God out, CAN NOT cleave to God, CAN NOT call on Him. Not unless He makes a way.

There were so many times I would be so frustrated because I *wanted* to do something, and was completely incapable of doing it. I ached for the presence of God, but when in His presence, I would do anything to make it stop. I couldn't even pray when I first came back to church.

I didn't come back to God, He brought me back to Himself. I am in awe of what He's done. There's so much more for Him to do, but what He's done means everything to me.

I *can* stand in His presence. I *can* lift my hands and worship Him. I *can* study His word. I *can* cry out to Him. Every one of those things is a miracle.

Interesting you should say this because those that have been dealing with casting spirits out say the same thing in reverse.

They're saying that we're not calling enough things spirits? Or, not calling a spirit a spirit in favor of calling it something else? Or something else completely? lol Just curious what they're saying...I'd love to know the why as well.

I think if you read Wm Bustard's book Killers in Hiding he talks about that a good bit.

The minister I talked to goes to different churches and either takes or trains a team to work with him. And he says he/they cast out spirits from many people including ministers.

As it has been stated not every situation is a spirit causing it but is a human spirit that can not be cast out.

But according to this minister many HG filled folks have spirits that he cast out. Now my thinking is if they are oppressing and not in can they be cast out? Or perhaps he is rebuking them to leave and stop tormenting.

As someone stated and it may have been you, there has to be some accountability with the person to not open themselves up for a return of the same spirit.

I will tell you one situation I personally saw. Years ago the sunday school director was praying in the altar and began squirming like a snake. The pastor was out of town when this happened. She was an altar worker and prayed with a lot of people and I have heard her speak in tongues many times.

I call Bro. Barnes and asked how can this be, because like most everyone else I had been taught a HG filled person can NOT have a demon also. That is when he began to teach me about the human spirit. And IF the person allows their human spirit to continue doing that for attention then they could open themselves up for demon possession.
