We are good at multi tasking?

I repaired 28 chainsaws, changed the engine case on one, repaired 15 generators, repaired one outboard, replaced brushes in a hammerdrill, got a truck running, cleared a yard, repaired two fences (mine is still down) and worked out on top of it all. Taught Bible study, and posted away with Sean the King of the Apostolic Pentecostals of California (because he sure isn't king here in Florida).

Oh, most of the chainsaws were "fuel line" rerouting. If anyone knows about that, then they know full well what a pain that can be. Ask Brother Burk.

I think I may have gastritis in my stomach as well.

I don't think it has much to do with my recent diet, but more to do with years of neglect to my body. They have prescribed a ppi and antacid, but I am considering not taking them. I am trying to self medicate. Any advice???
I was suffering from severe GERD. My wife began making raw, organic kombucha (a fermented tea) and other fermented foods, like organic sauerkraut and organic kimchi, organic ginger carrots, and the like, and my GERD disappeared almost overnight.

The only time I suffer from any issues is when I ingest too much sugar.

I recommend seeing if a local grocery store sells kombucha. Try a bottle.

Or, you can put some raw, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar into some water. This works for me if I have a flare up and want a quick cure to reduce symptoms.

The more physically fit a person is, the sharper the mind. Many people are energy deficient due to poor diet and lack of exercise. If a person can eat right, exercise properly, and lose weight, they will see a dramatic increase in physical energy and mental acuity. As such, having a full plate of responsibilities becomes much easier to handle.

Re: I Want To Get Fitter!

Do you guys(Esaias, EB, Aaron?) have scheduled days and times that you do free weights? And do you do a certain number of sets for each muscle group, and a certain amount of times per week for that muscle group?
Like i.e.: each muscle group 2x a week...or 1 time?

Or just when you have 30 minutes thru out the day to get to it?

Maybe different ways work better for each individual, just curious what you guys have found works best for you....and making sure it gets done..(like combing the hair

My current regime is a modified 5x5, 3 days per week. Unfortunately, I've slacked off lately but I just moved the weights and my new power rack into another room, so I'll be getting back into the regular routine shortly.

Two workouts (A, and B), alternating. Thus Monday its A, Wednesday its B, Friday its A, next Monday its B, then A, then B, etc.

A is squat day, plus a push and a pull, plus accessory lifts if I want to and/or have time/energy.
Push exercises are bench press, overhead press, and all their variations. Pull exercises are rows, pull-ups/chin-ups, upright rows/high pulls, or even cleans.

B is deadlift day. Plus a push and a pull.

Each workout has three heavies - heavy squat or deadlift, heavy push, heavy pull, plus two or more light pushes and pulls. Heavies are 5x5 (5 sets of 5 reps each) except for deadlifts, I either do one set of 5-8 or a bunch of triples or even singles. Sometimes I'll drop it to 3x5 (3 sets, 5 reps each) if I go heavier. Lights are 3-4x8-12 (3 or 4 sets of from 8 to 12 reps).

Sample A workout:

Squat 5x5
Bench press 5x5
Pendlay row 5x5
Overhead press 3x10
Dumbbell row 4x12 (maybe, depends)
Barbell curl 2x8
Reverse barbell curl 2x8

Every workout increase weight, or increase reps, or increase sets. I also rotate variations, so in the above example my B workout might look like this:

Deadlift 8x3
Overhead push-press 5x5
Dumbbell row 5x5
Incline bench press 3x10
Dumbbell hammer curl 3x12
Squat 1x as many reps as possible (light weight)

Next A
Sumo squat 5x5
Dumbbell bench press 5x5
Pull up 5x as many reps as possible
Strict military press 3x10
Bent over barbell row (overhand) 3x8
Barbell curls 3x10 at slow tempo

In other words, I try not to do the same lift two workouts in a row, I try to vary the.lifts each time. Sometimes though I'll do the exact same lifts for a couple weeks, only increasing the weight, then go back to varying everything.

It's all about staying one step ahead of your body, never letting it figure out what your routine is, no stagnation allowed.

I usually deload every 6 or 8 weeks for one or two weeks. Deload can be anything from just doing the big three lifts with no accessories, to doing nothing at all. Depends on what's going on.

Yes, there are no "calf raises" or "triceps extensions" or "pec fly's" or any of the other goofy bodybuilder silliness. I've never seen a powerlifter who needed calf work, and they don't do calf raises. *I* don't need calf work, I spent 20 years in construction as a ground grunt so I've walked over a gazillion miles, my calf's are fine. Deadlifts and cleans will do what's needed. And my triceps get worked enough with benching and overhead pressing, in my opinion.

But everything may change in a year or two.

Re: I Want To Get Fitter!

That's good stuff, Esaias

All Ive basically ever done is the old school bb style:
Mon-Chest/Tri's
Tue-Back/Bi's
Wed-off or cardio
Thurs-Shoulders/traps
Fri-Legs
Sat-Off
Sun-repeat

I've wondered in the past, about doing a full body split workout - twice a week but I've never tried it.

I have a leg press/sled that I've had for probably 10 years, but don't have a squat rack anymore.

By far, my biggest battle with not only weights, but with Spirituall disciplines, is finding time.(and then continuing beyond a couple months)

I'm self employed, I generally get up at 6am and go to work at 7, work till about 5pm, then come home eat dinner and then either go back out and bid jobs thruout the rest of the evening, or on some days I don't have to bid jobs, so I spend the rest of the evening with my wife and kids, and a majority of the time they either have soccer, or gymnastics, or baseball practice.
My work is physically demanding, so it sure is hard to motivate myself to work-out, after working out

I really do want to do better time wise at both Spiritual and physical disciplines. Plus, like Aaron mentioned, the physical discipline helps one to stay sharp.

Im going to study out your example workout some more. I've never seen one like that.
