Re: How to Save Money

Turn the oven off 10 mintues or so before your cake or meat ar completely done. The heat in the oven will finish the job.

Let the dishes in the dishwasher air dry instead of drying them with heat.

Re: How to Save Money

Awesome Frugal Caramel Recipe

This is caramel dip. (Not caramels)

1 stick butter
1c brown sugar
1/2 c generic white syrup
1 can sweetened condensed milk

First, make sweetened condensed milk:

Combine 1 cup instant nonfat dry milk solids, 2/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup boiling water and 3 tablespoons melted butter in sauce pan. Heat on low heat and stir until smooth.

Set aside.

Melt butter. Add brown sugar, white syrup and sweetened condensed milk. Boil for 3 minutes stirring constantly. Use immediately or refrigerate.

Use for dipping apples or on ice cream.

Re: How to Save Money

Can you give me the name of the book you recommended again??

I don't feel like sifting thru all the pages. I think it might make a good Cmas gift for a family member this year

Re: How to Save Money

That reminds me. I was supposed to be getting coupons for something on my birthday, but they've never showed up. Signed up for it, and it was the very first time I used my new address for anything, before we moved a couple years ago. (They said it wouldn't be mailed until later, in time for my birthday.) Need to follow up on that. Free wings, or something, I don't remember.

Oh, did I forget to mention the restaurant? It was Hooters!

I would not go there for free!

Re: How to Save Money

For another money saver, I buy a small bottle of liquid fabric softener, also a small box of dryer sheets, after i have used the sheets once I then drop them into another pint jar, fill half full with the liquid softener then on the next load of laundry wring out a sheet or two and toss in dryer again. can be used several times until the sheets wear out.

Good idea. I never practiced that one!

You could also buy a package of mens white handkerchiefs and put some liquid fabric softener on it to use in the dryer. Works the same way as your used dryer sheets but the cloth handkerchiefs last practically forever.
