We agreed that it wouldn’t really matter!

We have been blessed (or lucky!) in our lives. Our belief in God has given us a purpose for our life. A purpose that is bigger than just us. If nothing else, the Bible has given us great philosophical advice which we have patterned our life after. It’s been like an instruction manual for us.

Believing in God has given us a life-long hope. It gives us a way to cope with tragedy, suffering and death.

Believing in God has given us an unwavering opinion of right and wrong, good and evil. This has brought stability to our lives.

The bottom line is that at worse, our lives are better off and we are more balanced emotionally because of our faith in God.

But………because we believe in God, I believe we also have a great reward of forever being in God’s presence, and one day we will be walking on streets of gold. This is our great hope!
My thought exactly. I would not change a thing. If the Jesus Christ I serve is a complete imagination and the feeling we have when we worship and praise him is all made up....then it is still wonderful if only for this life.

You get worked up and spew a bunch on nonsense. Speaking in tongues would be on my least likely list of assurances there is a God.

At Pentecost, the followers of Jesus were recorded as speaking in tongues. At Trophonius and Delos, the Pagan priestesses also spoke in tongues.

Tongues of fire would help authenticate.

Several different groups claim to have had esoteric experiences involving tongues.

But are they praying to Jesus when they do?

No god would be an answer to my prayers.

In the context of this thread how is that relevant? The point was tongues by themselves are not a convincing argument that there is a God.

Exactly. Miracles by themselves, even real ones, won't save anyone. They all can be explained away.
