There is just something about the thought of "popping the question" with other people around that rubs me the wrong way. Whether it be at a sports stadium, in a church (your case), or with the parents present at the restaurant table(like the oldest "Dugger" on 17 and Counting.... or is it 18, 19, or 20 now?). The lady REALLY needs to right to say "no" if she feels she has to.

I agree, Randy. Very good point. However, some couples discuss marriage, and women give a sort of implied approval before they are officially asked.

I would imagine most guys won't risk a public proposal unless they're pretty sure of the girl's answer.

But you are very chivalrous to think of it that way! I'm giving you major points!!!!!

You are so right!

I wish I could have told the woman to run for the hills! But that would have ruined the moment.

Not sure where you are getting your info.
I think he's referring to the clip from the ballgame earlier where the girl said "NO".

First time I ever heard of this happening in church! What better place to ask the girl you love to marry you? Really neat I think.

And 26 baptisms in a new work in 10 months!! Awesome!

It is awesome I am thankful for that!

Although, you might not know this Felicity, but this not a new work. This church is well over 30 yrs old.

The prior pastor retired and asked for us to come.

Oh! Okay. I didn't know. For some reason I thought this was a new work you folks had started. I'm not very clued in I guess to what the situation actually was.

Well, it doesn't matter - new or older work. It's awesome all these folks being baptized! Absolutely love hearing these kind of reports!

That is right! The growth we were longing for in our other church, we are seeing here. I am very thankful to be a part of it.

I agree with you on this, Randy. Conceiving a marriage is as personal as conceiving a baby. In my mind, the proposal is the time that the marriage is conceived. I think that should be between the man and the woman. Once they've both agreed to it, then of course, shout it on the mountaintop and ask everyone to rejoice with you! Just like once you know you are having a baby, sharing the good news is top priority.

My nephew just proposed to his girlfriend last weekend. He invited both of his parents and both of her parents to go to dinner with them. Then he proposed in front of the whole restaurant. I am happy for him. But I would have been moritified had I been his girlfriend.
