Then they should get married and seek whatever jobs they can get and their pastor approves of where they live.
CC1 your TIC post is not to far off from the truth, of our not distant past.

My first pastor did not much approve of college, secular or bible. We should go to the University of Downonmykneespraying. his kids dropped out of high school at age 16

When I told my second pastor that I wanted to take a leave from my job and go to college full time I was told he couldn't afford to be without my tithes. This was in a pretty large UPC.

He, my second pastor, also was warry of letting us go to college. His fear was that we would be swayed by the godless teaching we'd receive in college.

Am I bitter...maybe a little. Basically I feel violated, much like you would if you came home and found you had been robbed.

That is an excellent idea... though not for the intent you offer.

To a lessor degree I understand what you are saying. I see no reason why anyone would not pursue college in today's world.

Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christians being educated?

In Utah, they have a good program for homeschoolers to matriculate into college. There are several different colleges, including BYU, that have a program to get them into the college system.

One program that they offer is possibly available in other states also.

At 16, any homeschooler in the state, can go into their public school office and sign up for any of the community colleges for $86.00 a YEAR! As long as they are signed up through the public school system then they can take advantage of this program because they still have to pay property taxes.

At that program they offer 2 year certificates. These then can be used as entry into the local colleges.

They offer everything from electricians apprentice, medical, trades, accounting and etc.

You probably have to check your local school district to see if they have this in your area. Otherwise.... move to Utah!

Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christians being educated?

Yes Christians should be educated. The world thinks we are dumb but when we become educated then they consider us educated idiots. But remember because someone is educated doesn't mean they are wise.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

One man's sarcasm is another man's TIC.
