I might add that that statement was kind of bland when I said everyone else. I ment by that that those that claim to have the spirit of God for the most part do. You see when some one believes that they will get the spirit of God when they repent, their heart is open to the point that God can in fact come into their heart and fill them. Tongues in my opinion has been over infisized.
1Co 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
One that has the spirit of God does not need the sign of speaking in tongues to know they have the spirit of God. They know, how do you know that you have the spirit of God?

Tongues have been used to "prove" the reality of the baptism of the H.G., not to the believer, but to the congregation who requires a sign in order for them to believe.

The result of such an encounter, however, when a new believer does not have the required "speaking in tongues" experience, is the creation of doubt in the mind of the new convert. They have failed in their bid for salvation - they are still unacceptable unto God (rejected by Jesus), and their faith is in vain. Also, it is frequently taught that if they should die before the "tongues experience", they have not the Spirit of Christ in them so they are still condemned to hell.

Ouch!
