The Power of A Praying Wife
Although I am not married, I decided to read this book because it has received raving reviews. I wanted to see what the hype was really about. As I read the book I was initially impressed, but then I began to process a little bit more and started to question some of the things in the book. In my opinion, the book doesn't hold the husband responsible for his behavior. While prayer is a powerful tool, it doesn't encourage the wife to confront her husband about his unacceptable behavior. It doesn't encourage the wife to have a voice at all in the relationship. It appears to me that her only tool is prayer and she should just accept the behavior and wait for this change to suddenly appear. The wife's will and desire is subject to her husband. There is scripture for being subject to your husband, but I'm not sure to what degree. In my opinion, it seems that the woman bears the burden of change in the marriage and he is just to continue in whatever the problem may be until he decides to change.
