When crying that phrase out, he was distraught that he would no longer enjoy refried beans, scrambles eggs, sliced potatoes and some crunchy bacon.

I wasn't trying to contradict you. I was affirming what you had said and pointing out that it was more than physical death, which is what I am trying to better understand.

Re: Jesus forsaken?

The God who knew not sin, Robed himself in flesh and became our sin.
God spilled his own blood for our sins. Not just the blood of a sinless man, but HIS OWN BLOOD.

Acts 20:28 - Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

To say that Jesus was JUST a man, is to deny your own salvation. To say Jesus is not GOD, is to ........ yourself to an eternity in hell. For with out the blood of GOD/CHRIST, there is no remission of sins.

(what I can not use the root word form of damnation?)

In second thought, if God can forsake himself (even if it is a "separate person") then you truly have 2 Beings/Gods.

Re: Jesus forsaken?

Here is what I have been taught and I think I agree:

God could not die....The Spirit had to leave the earthly body of Jesus Christ or it would never have died. Does that make sense to anyone else? The spotless lamb slain before the foundation of the world died. God didn't die.

Re: Jesus forsaken?

Think about the punishment that you and I deserve. An eternal lake of fire where there will be gnashing of teeth. The wrath of God will fall eventually on those who aren't saved.

What happened to the wrath of God for our sins? They didn't just go away. Someone paid and that someone was Jesus. The wrath of God for just one of us is a terrible thing let alone all who are saved. Jesus took on our eternal wrath of God (which is just) all at one time in a short period of time.

It wasn't the cross Jesus was afraid of. Many men were crucified and Jesus was no wimp. It was the wrath of God that was in the cup Jesus asked to have passed from Him. It was God turning away from Jesus because of sin that He felt forsaken. I know Jesus is God and I can't explain how it happened, but it did.
