Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

I try to do it as discreetly as possible as I am supposed to be on call 24/7/365-6. When I have actually taken time off, then I will turn my phone down or off. Generally I try to leave it in my car when I go to a concert or church. This puts it out of sight and mind.

Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

I don't have a FB. Don't want one. Forums take more of my time than I care to admit.

I've seen too many family squabbles because one family member won't "friend" another. Or someone gets mad and "defriends" another. Then they block one another. I am thinking....how silly.

Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

My family gets on, sees that no other family member is actually posting anything sigificant, and goes on to other things. Therefore we do not have to worry about friending or not friending any other family member. (We do it whenever we happen to be logged in.)

I don't have FB either. I agree with you that some people's behaviour can be downright embarrasing on there. So many drama queens and kings LOL

You know what's really scary? When people start acting the way they act on facebook...in real life.

Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

Hmm, I rarely have anything to say on FB, and I try to act on here like I do in real life.

But that is a rather disturbing thought.

I usually give someone one strike when they do this. There IS something that bothers me more though (MUCH more), and that is someone calling me while eating.

Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

Many of my relatives are on FB and while I check it daily, the total time spent reading (and replying) to posts can be measured in a few minutes. I honestly don't know what there even is to do on there when we talk about people spending hours on the site. (Yes, I know there are games -spent the first year and a half 'playing' Mafia Wars until I woke up one morning realizing how stupid it was.)

Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

At a roadside cafe, a guy walked in (a local guy, I figure) and started talking on his cell, and I tell you, he was talking louder than anyone ever has before! He obviously wanted the entire place to hear everything. Even had a funny look on his face, like "See what I'm doing? I'm talking on a phone! In a restaurant!"

Hilarious!

Re: Facebook, Internet and Family Time

So I threw a salt shaker at him.

(Kidding. Wanted to, though! )
