If we keep reading that chapter,
Exodus 33
20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21 And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Moses did not literally see the FACE of God. The conversation between Moses and God was a direct (or intimate) conversation just like a man speaking to his friend. The rest of Israel did not have that privilege. They stood afar off, but Moses was privileged to walk up to the mountain of God and speak to God directly.
However, Moses did NOT SEE THE FACE of God literally

John 1:18 "No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."

1 John 4:12 "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us."
yes i agree he didnt see his face, cause he would have died, but he did see that back parts that God revealed to him.

as far as the no man has seen God at anytime, there must be a different meaning or intent as a few of the prophets stated they say Him, Ezekiel, and isaiah. we even draw pictures today trying to depict what they saw.

I've wondered if what Moses saw there on the mount was the body and back of Jesus Christ striped, mutilated, and beaten to a bloody pulp as described in Isaiah chapter 53.

Moses saw God the Word/Logos/Angel of YHWH/Memra/ha Kavod/form/Son (in some theology) before the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Re: How many thrones?

I don't know.

I used to comfort myself with the idea of being able to hug Jesus, once we step into eternity, but I was told by an Assistant Pastor, astute in Biblical studies, that hugging Jesus will not be possible.

It literally broke my heart.

Now, I don't even try to speculate on much concerning the hereafter, because even when I think I know something, I don't.

He said that Jesus would be too busy being the "Light" and that we would be too busy too doing stuff like worshiping and I vaguely remember getting the sense that he was teaching that we would be working somehow too-- but it wouldn't seem like work in our sense because it will be worship.
