are you trying to say that pay is filthy lucre?

Work with his hands...just like Paul did.

It is if they say or do certain things from the pulpit for filthy lucre.
The Bible addresses this.

Some pastors put the fear of God into people if they do not pay their tithes, which by the way is preached in some circles that the pastor gets all the tithes...

The NT says nothing about a group of people putting any one man in position of power over other people ...and paying him for it.

And some, not all, but some pastors get rich and fat doing it.

I thank God for a thin poor Pastor

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Are others called to Pastor?

Let's take this one verse:

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

(I Peter 5:2)

Many young men go into the ministry as a profession expecting to get paid. They expect to get paid feeding the flock of God. I do not think this is what Peter had in mind when he wrote this scripture.

I salute those pastors who are bi-vocational.

Heh.

I know of various pastors who bought all sorts of land, lakeside homes, vacations, hunting trips...and one almost had a falling out with a wealthier saint over a house that both wanted to buy. Imagine that...fighting over a house!

Many saints cannot afford to go on a vacation. Some have to ask their pastor's permission if they can go on vacation.

The love of money is the root of all evil. I believe that.

A full time pastor working on the side, I can just see that!
And you folks on the sideline complaining about his errors.

That's why an assembly of believers should not set up one man to be a full time paid sheep feeder.
