To finish that thought, Paul said that we are not in darkness that that day should overtake us as a thief.

Many, dare I say... most Christians are walking in spiritual darkness and that day is going to overtake them.

MTD, are you posting this to clarify any misnomers that are taught?

I have been taught that the "rapture" will take place before that man of sin is revealed.

I do not believe everything I have been taught...if I did then purgatory would be our next stop.

So...please expound on your thoughts on this scripture. I am willing to learn more and at the very least...another point of view.

And yet Paul is saying the opposite. He says the day of Christ (coming of Jesus) will not happen before the man of sin is revealed the son of perdition. This fits perfectly with what Jesus taught in Matt. 24:29-31

After all thats where Paul got his doctrine-from the teachings of Jesus.

John taught exactly the same thing when he was shown in Revelation 20:4 the FIRST RESURRECTION taking place after the beast/man of sin had beheaded many for refusing his mark.

The idea we would not go through the mark of the beast era is presented by deceivers. After all who wants to teach people they may die for the name of Jesus?
