Seriously, though. How can you respect a God that sits with a huge exposed belly protruding out for all to see? That is just weird. One time we walked into a restaurant and I really couldn't resist sticking my finger in his belly button. He was just sitting there staring at the door and all. I thought maybe he could grant me a wish.

So...there's a car accident and a dying person is asking for prayer. You arrive the same time a Muslim does and the victim asks for prayer for healing.

The Muslim breaks out his rug and starts praying. You? Protest? Refuse to pray because you are worried it means they will take it the wrong way despite the fact you are praying to your God and they are praying to theirs?

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Cool Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

I also read this in the morning paper. My thoughts were more in regard to the Missouri synod Lutherans.
We've lived in many cities with a strong Lutheran presence.
Obviously Pentecostal groups are maligned due to their different interpretations and the lack of one big happy family.

Lutherans have several organizations _________and they don't agree

Especially the Wisc synod. They don't think anyone else is saved! NOW where have I heard that before ??

Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

The Pastor was showing His support for his community by being involved in the Vigil, He was saying to EVERYONE gathered there that He supports them in their time of Loss and that HIS GOD loves them. He wasn't saying a Muslim prayer or a Buddhist chant, He was praying to the Lord Jesus to provide healing and comfort. If I were the Pastor, I would never have apologized for my actions and I would have told my Synod where to stick its non-biblical and strongly misguided rules and regulations. I would be leaving that uptight pretentious group as fast as the door would swing!

Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

Recently a upci church wanted to purchase advertising for aan upcoming conference being held at their church on K-Love radio.

K-Love would not sell them time and the upci pastor gpt all bent out of shape and posted on his FB page how he was going to change his listening habits and no longer listen to K=Love radio.

My thought was this...What did you expect pastor??

They have a policy not to let Jehovahs Witness and Mormons on THEIR Radio station.
The UPCI is not looked at much differently than the JW's and mormons.
The radio station is well aware of the articles of faith of the upci, that "we" don't believe there is salvation outside of speaking in tongues and being baptized specifically in Jesus name

Truth is, many of us won't even associate with or prayer with other protestant or Catholics.

Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

As to the hyopthetical situation question envolving a car wreck I would pray and pay no regard to the muslim. The difference here is i am not chooseing my surroundings. I did not choose the setting but in the other i am chooseing to go and be a part of an interfaith setting. All the pastor would have neede to have done inorder to show the Love of Christ is have a separate prayer vigil on another evening.

2Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

As to Elijah and the Prophets of baal first it should be pointed out that it was only done to show God's power and that baal was not a god at all, Second it should be noted how that prayer meeting ended for the pagans then come back and lets talk abut tolerance.

Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

Im sorry, but it is absolutely ludicrous to think that the Pastor was unequally yolked with non-believers, that is a scripture totally taken out of context in this instance. He was being compassionate to those that most needed compassion. He was reaching out in a time of great need. He WAS DOING EXACTLY what JESUS would have done! I watched the vigil and I never once HEARD him agree with anyone else or preach any other Gospel. There were many faiths represented in the room and He was doing His part to bring comfort!

Re: Lutheran Pastor Apologizes For Praying

I do not doubt that he may have been trying to bring comfort but as i said earlier he could have had a separate prayer vigil where all were welcome but only christian prayers offered.
That passage did bear meaning on that situation for it deals with christians and pagans:

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
