I DO have a major problem when not having one is part of church doctrine.

In our current age of TV on computers, tablets and phones it just does not make a bit of sense IMHO!!!

Re: Is TV now the norm in the UPCI home?
We don't have one as a matter of conscience and I teach against it. It is not only vile (mostly) but a really big thief of time.
One famous writer said: "You can be a writer or watch TV, never both!"
I can be a Minister of the Gospel and an educator or I can watch TV. We can be a family together or we can focus on the screen instead of one another! but I don't impose it. Just share my own thoughts.
I am reminded of Romans 1:32
"and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them."

Re: Is TV now the norm in the UPCI home?
I have a TV, but haven't watched it in months. Except once in a while my son will call and tell me to turn to the whether channel, because of bad weather.
But Holiness can not be dectated. If you don;t have enough holiness in your spirt to tell you (and you listen) to what is right and what is wrong, then you have not developed the "fear of the Lord," and someone telling you what you can do or not do, will do no good.
I find that there is nothing but garbage spewed out by the 'spirit of this world,' on TV. And the saying, "Garbage in---garbage out" is so true.
My little great grandaughter aged 5, watches a lot of the Disney Channels and anything else that she wants, and it breaks my heart to hear that precious little girl, probably one third of her speach is witchcraft.

I respect your convictions, but your post raises a question...
Just curious, can one be a minister of the gospel and an educator while logged on to the Internet?
Anything can be a thief of time...even participating on an Apostolic forum, IMHO.

The internet is equally evil; actually worse then a TV set.

Re: Is TV now the norm in the UPCI home?
I am always amazed when I read about those who preach AGAINST this or that.
Though not a preacher by any means, it would just seem to me that folks would want to preach FOR right living and making wise choices and the blessedness of the Blood of the Lamb and His grace and mercy and the soon coming of our Lord and the desire we should all have to bring souls to the foot of the Cross and the sheer joy their is in knowing the Lord and knowing He loves me and the peace that passes all understanding when you have separated yourself unto Him...
Whew!
It just seems that that there is a whole lot to preach for, and my list doesn't even scratch the surface.
But ya know, this is just me...as I say, I am not a preacher.

Re: Is TV now the norm in the UPCI home?
Have not had one since I recieved the Holy Ghost over 37 years ago.
I have been in many preacher's homes and neer saw one.
The churches I fellowshsp with preach very strongly against them.
When i am pastoring no one who has an office ( sunday school teacher, on platform, hostess, and so on) can have one or they are not allowed to do anythings in the church. They can come and are welcome but not do anything.
That will never change with me.
