Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

To me the Star Wars series is great. I like it more now than when I was a kid.
There are many great hidden lessons in the Star Wars movies.
Good will triumph. Darth Vader didn't start out evil. Remind you of anyone else from the bible?

I just really irks me when someone praises CS Lewis for his books and movies
and then roast anyone else for using the entertainment industry
to put out a good story with valuable lessons.

Of course Jesus should be first in your life, if that isn't the case it doesn't matter what movies you watch. You aren't serving Jesus like you should.

But something about this one has me concerned. It's not the movie itself. It's the way so many are obsessing over it. Even Apostolic believers I know are entrenched and have been chomping at the bit for this movie to come out.

Maybe I am over-reacting, but I fear this film has helped to cause believers in Christ to desire a little more escapism into the realm of fiction and fantasy, something too many believers already enjoy.

Maybe it's just a harmless flick, made for popcorn and a date night? But I feel an undercurrent in this. It's as if it' somehow as important to people as the Second Coming (an exaggeration, I know!).

What are your thoughts?
Maybe I live under a rock. I'm aware there's a Star Wars movie coming out, but I don't care. I don't know who's in it or what it's about. I own a TV, I go to the movies. Those things don't control me.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I saw the first one in a theater around 1975ish.....It ended with the whole theater cheering and clapping at the destruction of the death star.

The graphics and plot captivated everyone that saw it in those days.
