so these are not cases of best friends from across the street that are no longer allowed to see each other.

the thing that really hurts these kids is when their churches fall on different sides of hte UPCI WWPF divide. THAT is where the real hurt is.
So there are TWO types of division going on in Cali. The North South Division and then the WWPF/UPCI division. yes, there will be hurt probably to those involved with the outgoing churches and also to those churches that are near the "berlin wall" area. But I do not think friendships should cease over this. There is an attempt for some functions to include outgoing churches that are going the WWPF path.....time will tell how successful this will be.

well, if you want to seperate them out like that, there are also the churches that are going independant so there is number 3.

but honestly in California, those that remain in, vs those that are leaving....lets be real. Most of the conservitives dont allow their young people to fellowship with the non-conservitives so really I dont see that as a big deal.

as for those "on the berlin wall" well honestly if you are a good friend of someone a little to the south, but still close, then you will find a way to see them anyway. also not that big a deal.

I live in Texas. the Texas district split a few years ago didnt really do any long term dammage to young people.

Yeah, but... that's Texas! Apples and oranges here. Or rather, Prickly Pear Cactus and oranges.

Most of the Ucons don't let their people fellowship with Conservatives, Moderates or Liberals.

The only people this is really going to "hurt" are the kids that are to young to drive or get away to meet their friends who they would other wise see twice a year at youth Camp and Youth Conv.

But as it already was the UCs forbade their kids to go to these events already

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Please tell me that you are not serious about this. Do they have separate churches for the (Ucons, Cons, Mods, and Libs)? How do they stop them from fellowship?

I know that's right. Thankful none of that is going on here either. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm CA. District born and bred. I think it will work out for the best for the youth here is why:

You will be able to go to 2 youth conventions now not to mention many more events andmore time and chances to meet your friends.

You will not be turned away simply because you are from the wrong District.

A lot of people are against the District splitting because they feel like the south is too liberal. I'm not addressing that part. most of these people are leaving the UPC anyways.

The mere size and traffic of Calif. demands a second District. anyone living here knows I'm right about it

The northern CA youth convention will be held in Stockton- An easy one hour flight to Sacramento

Re: Western District Split

I think what UPC_TEEN89 meant was they will not get to see their long term friends because chances are the districts will hold most of their events during the same time. For instance, if youth conv. is always at spring break, they will have to choose which district youth event they wish to attend. Their pastors are going to tell them to attend their district event. It's possible the youth camps could be at different times but, youth camps require the signature of your pastor. I don't know if they will accept youth from another district. Even if they did accept youth from another district, chances are the youth could not afford to attend two camps. With this in mind, I understand the pain of the teens.
