Not as an official theological term. Believers with same sex attraction should be defined as simply "Christian". I don't think we need to be hyphenated Christians. However, if someone wishes to explain that individually they are a "gay Christian", we should understand what that means (a disciple of Jesus with no physical attraction to the opposite gender). I don't think we should freakout or dismiss them out of hand, condemning them without remorse.

Yes, that has to be what I remain, but I will not judge someone who has not been judged and is seeking God. I think sinners are a product of society, and I find society, even Christian society, ill-equipped to point a finger. I would say consider very carefully the implications of whatever you put in front of Christian, where it matters; in your mind.

Re: Common Myths about Gay Christians

This is where the pleas for accepting Gay Christians (that are homosexuals, but not presently practicing, yet want to be allowed and acknowledged for their gayness) exposes the real reason for the argument.

The last few pages have now shifted to accepting those "Christians" who are practicing the abomination (in a monogamous, committed relationship of course) ... you know - like Christians with different views of the rapture...

No thank you.

That what my point has been. If a person has been saved, they should not even wish to be acknowledged for their tendencies. I do not see a 'temperamental Christian support group' (wait, that is is what AFF is).

Re: Common Myths about Gay Christians

Food for thought...just looking at it from another view...If people who suffered or are suffering from a spirit of homosexuality should be viewed as an ex-gay or a gay christian, shouldn't someone who suffered or is suffering with a spirit of perversion manifested in child molesting be called an ex-child molester or child molester Christian?

Of course, unless you think homosexuals are expressing Agape love, while molestation (consented even) is perverse.

You're not getting it. It's an informal term. I don't think we should formally designate them as "gay Christians". Some of them however have been told that they can't be gay and a Christian, so they are simply making a statement that they are. It's like if for generations we said one can't be black and Christian. Some black Christians might want to call themselves "African-American Christians" to show that they indeed can be. It's a social thing.

In my mind it's fitting to some degree because they indeed are gay but they are also Christians. When the sigma and judgmentalism ends, I'm sure those celibate "gay Christians" will simply prefer to be called "Christian". Many prefer it already.

Let's see if we can agree... If a person is a gay but celibate believer...should they simply be called "Christians"?
