Re: What can you tell me about Ron Paul?

Margie, there is much to like about Ron Paul until you get to a couple of things about the guy.

First, his number one poliitcal point is that we need to return to the Gold Standard. Take a look at American history and you will see that before we left the Gold Standard, America suffered MANY very major economic depressions (not resessions). After leaving the Gold Standard, we have not suffered a single depression and with only a few exceptions, our economic down turns have been pretty reasonable.

Second Ron Pauls view of foreign policy is isolationist. We dont live in a world where isolationism is an option. If Ron Paul were president in WW2, he would have fought the Japanese but not the Germans.

third, if you look at his view of the constitution, it isnt orrigalist, it is an extremely strict interpretatoin that would best fit America pre-1812.

Some of what he says, I agree with but a good portion of it is just off the wall as far as I am concerned.

Blessing Israel = Blessing Abraham

If the USA wants to stop being blessed by G-d, all she has to do is stop blessing Israel.

Unsure of your views here, but the Covenant of which you speak was Fulfilled by Jesus, and the Church IS the everlasting Covenant Promised to Abraham.
If the USA wants to stop being blessed of God, she needs to continure on her path of rejecting Jesus.
Psa 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;
God has blessed the USA not becase of who our friends or our enemies are, but because of our relationship with Him.
Notice to if you will, that all the nations that have been friends to us while we were following His ways, have been blessed. Why is that? Because...
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
We must consider the whole counsel of God in formulating our teachings.

that is the raging debate isnt it?

are we supplanters of the promise or are we grafted into the promise?

Gods promise to Abraham predated the law of moses and some argue (and I tend to agree) extends beyond it.

Certainly... one of the promises... the promise that by his seed all the world would be blessed.

but God told Abraham, that he would bless those that blessed him and curse those that cursed him. God extended that to his decendants of Promise....

i think I will stick with blessing Israel.

It's hard to take your post seriously when you care so little about the quality of words you type.

We have opened our wallet to nearly every nation in the United Nations, including former colonial and 20th Century Superpowers. Many of these other countries respond to our generosity by expelling our ambassadors and burning our flag, but Israel remains grateful. Also allow me to point out that we don't give everything to Israel, as you might have others here to believe: Israel BUYS things from us, and a lot of it. If you ever go to Israel, you would be shocked to see how many American-made things there are in the country, not to mention the proliferation of American businesses.

Allow me to share an event with you.
When I went to Israel in autumn '05, I took a boat ride on Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) with 7 US citizens and 16 Canadians. The boat flies the Flag of Israel (Magen David) at the stern. As we pulled away from the shore, the 3-man crew proceeded to play at top volume an audio track of the Star Spangled Banner, take out the Stars & Stripes (equal in size to the Israel flag), and hoist it up the boat's main flag pole. The crew then stood at attention until the conclusion of the anthem. The crew then resumed their duties. After the Canadians responded with "Oh Canada", the Captain of the boat appeared and the Canadian group coordinator asked (loud enough for all to hear) to know why the USA flag and anthem was played when most of the people on the boat were Canadian. The Captain looked him in the eye and in a thick Israeli accent said, "Because the United States is THE ONLY NATION that has ever stood up for Israel! And as you can see, all of us feel this way." We turned and looked at several other large boats on the water: they all flew the Flag of Israel at the stern and the Stars and Stripes either on the main pole or at the helm. To see that as an American, the word proud cannot begin to describe how I felt.

Like it or not, Israel provides us with more info than 10 NATO's.

I would appreciate knowing what the nation of Israel did in the First Century against a small group of "Christians." Please elaborate.
