the point is, politicians not being aware of the common struggles of mainstream america.
If that's the point, then why the biased slap at republicans? All politicians are out of touch ... Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc. Ignorance and being out of touch isn't limited to one party.

the difference with republicans is that they claim to be christian and espouse christian values when they are no better that democrats when it comes to morals. at least democrats don't claim to be holier than thou.
Is it hypocrisy to believe something with all your heart, yet not be able to live up to the perfect measure of Christ all the time?
If so I guess we all are hypocrites right?
At various times in our lives, I believe that we are.

Is naivety believing that any of these politicians believe what they say with all of their heart, and are earnestly trying to live up to the perfect measure of Christ?

I like to believe that at least a few are genuine.
It simply bothers me that one would argue that since a person cannot live up to perfection they are therefore disqualified from standing up for any morality at all. You cannot be Pro-Life and anti0gay marriage if you happen to have made a mistake and drove drunk or committed adultery. That is dumb to me. Not being perfect does not mean you cannot stand for morality.

I don't think anyone believes that. I think we look for the best, hope for the best, vote for what appears to stand for the greater good. Sometimes we are sorely disappointed after the vote.
Almost like voting in the wrong pastor and his wife.

No, the difference is republicans aren't worried or afraid of stating their beliefs and values, out loud and on the record. The democrats are too afraid of alienating some voting bloc to state their beliefs and values.
When you come out and state said beliefs and values, you open yourself up for criticism and scrutiny.
Two groups always singled out for being hypocrites .... christians and conservative politicians ... because we say what we believe and aren't afraid to admit it.

There are some who almost seem to believe that.
I'll take the liberty of tweaking your analogy a bit. It's almost like voting in the wrong pastor and wife over and over and over and over again.
The Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. I believe that this is generally true of human nature but not with politicians. I'm to the point that I need politicians to speak with their actions and decisions.

Yes, Stew!! Exactly! I can assure you that is what is being voiced over and over and over again on Facebook and Twitter! Someone needs to give us proof in their actions and decisions!!! Absolutely!!!!
