If simply backing up, back up ONLY the actual data. Reinstall the software from their original CD/DVD's.

If you don't clone the original HD, yes. If you do not have the original software that came with the PC, including the OS, you can get it from the company.

BTW what makes you think it's the HD?

Re: Anyone Ever Replace A Hard Drive?

My son just replaced mine - - I got the "blue screen" a couple weeks ago!

I've been on my iPhone and laptop until five minutes ago. I got it all hooked up and FINALLY using a larger screen again!

Re: Anyone Ever Replace A Hard Drive?

Just had a brother in my old Church give me a call & he is pretty good with computers (he has six running in his apartment) as he has his own digital graphics company & he suspects I have virus(s) that have burrowed into my computer.
AVG hasn't caught anything on my computer but he can boot up my computer jhooked up to his laptop I think and catch it there.

It's funny. I remember when FF was the "it" browsers for being the opposite of IE....

Anyways, Ron wanted to remind you NOT to touch the mother board or the ram chips unless you are grounded. Touch the case to discharge any static electricity

Thanks, I remembered that.
I ran that malware program & it came up with about 49 Registry Keys infected.
