Re: Blood Test for Depression

There is much that is unknown about the relations between the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical and how they interact with one another. It is known that your state of mind will have an influence on your physical health, your physical health can affect your emotions, your emotions can affect your spiritual life, and your spiritual life can and will affect your state of mind. Obviously they are all related, but no one can say exactly how. These scientists are seeking to make everything physical, while ignoring the rest of the man. Thus people heap unto themselves doctors, physicians, and medications, and are not profited by them at all.

I've always said one of the best things to have whilst battling depression is a warm puppy.

You are so right!
That's why pets are taken to shut in
and elderly people lots of times. It makes
them feel so much better.

I agree. Actually, I would say that almost any warm blooded animal is acceptable for that service. I have felt a little down, gone home, and both of my cats will come, jump on my bed, and cuddle and play with me. Before long, I am feeling much better than I was before.

We live about a thousand feet from a retirement center (assisted living) where the average age is well over 80 and quite a few of the residents have small dogs. In fact the place runs its own shelter for the dogs since most of them outlive their owners. That may be where our next (3rd) dog comes from.

A bit dense, but outlines a possible cause of obesity, "obesogens."

They really do know when something is not right with their owners. It continually amazes me how certain domesticated animals bond with humans like they do.

Kitties are good for depression too, but not in the way you might think. They're so incredibly self-centered (it's all about MEE-OWWW) that they'll pester you to death to feed them, pet them, clean out their litter boxes, etc. Occasionally they'll sit and purr on your lap. I have lots of experience with depression and there were days when my cat's expectations got me out of bed and on with my day.

They will force you to think about someone else outside of yourself that is for sure. However, mine are constantly wanting to give and receive tlc. It is enough to make one slightly nuts on occasion. The best solution that I have found is to give them a long tight hug. I feel better and they leave me alone for a while .

Yeah...while you nurse your wounds from puppy bites.
