Thanks. I would be interested in more details about the second item: how do you think socialism would destroy your faith?

Re: Why are you conservative?

I consider myself conservative.
To me, it's just something that happened
when I received the Holy Ghost baptism
back in 1975. I had a yearning desire
to be as close to God as possible. I still do.
I want to be pleasing to Him in every way
that I possibly can. The way I understand
the Word of God I am to be holy and separated
from the world. A peculiar person. And by
the world's standards, I am very much so.
I am a woman that does not wear makeup,
jewelry, or pants. I don't cut my hair. I am
very careful of where I go, what I view and
what I read. Just a few samplings of what I
consider to be my conservative lifestyle.

Re: Why are you conservative?

I no longer identify with either the "conservatives" or "liberals" but I am an individualist and believe that personal responsibility is a virtue that everyone should strive to attain. Self-reliance and even better, self-sustenance are my goals and I would hope that it ends up being my legacy when I am gone. Having these values puts me on the conservative side of the coin, as far as I can tell because the liberals seem to jeer at anyone who believes in personal responsibility (which I totally don't understand... when did it become wrong to be responsible for yourself and expect others to be responsible for themselves?).

At the same time, I see all sorts of corruption on the conservative side as well. I am not comfortable identifying with either major party, but because of my strong views regarding individualism, I lean slightly to the right and am probably a textbook libertarian.

Re: Why are you conservative?

I am a conservative because I am a dedicated Christian who takes the Bible seriously. Because God forbids the practice of shedding innocent blood, I can not support the cause of the abortionists. I can not accept 'same sex marriage' for homosexual relations are forbidden in Scripture. I can not support government supplying welfare as the Bible teaches that those who will not work should not eat, thus one should at least be willing to work if they are going to receive aid. Further, all charity should be done by family, friends, churches (or other houses of worship), and local communities.

I am also a believer in a stricter understanding of the Constitution than many in our government today. I believe that I have the right to say and believe what I wish as long as I am not betraying necessary governmental secrets, causing another person intentional harm, inciting a riot, or other criminal behavior. Any guns I possess are my property, and the Feds have no right to infringe upon my ownership in any form. Taking 20+% of my paycheck in state and Federal taxes is stealing. Any other questions?

Wow. You've made that all conform to the Republican Party quite nicely. Well done.

Re: Why are you conservative?

Actually, we make them conform to us. I could continue on and expand that list, but many people do not understand that conservatives actually believe everything we claim.

well timmy, this is when the government tells you that we can not share our faith with others or they say we have to except their version of god.
communism- no god, government becomes god.
except - gays, can not have a public display of Jesus at christmas. gay marriage, telling the church what it can and can not do.
