Not now but I've been there often. I live about an hour away from Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. An hour by what means I'm not saying.

Well saints, we leave for Tampa Monday afternoon! Me, Lady Deacon, and the three kids, Big Brother Deacon, Little Princess Deacon, and Baby Deacon will catch our flight to Florida to set up camp at the General Conference in Tampa!!!!!!!
I will be glad to give detailed reports from the GC events I attend. I would also like to recruit any other fellow AFFers who will be in attendance, I can tell right now, I will NOT be at the Wednesday night festivities (its a GC tradition for me to miss the pre-conference concerta and PMA Music Awards Show---After singing in the old Harvestime Singspiration in Oklahoma City in 1987, I just can't bring myself to enjoy the new format. Too much dancing and gyrating on the platform, worldly styled songs from the 1980s, and the "UPC Oscars" just turns me off).
I will be there to hear Bro Haney on Thursday, I will attend the two business meetings, and I will catch the youth service on Friday and the Friday night service as well and the ABI Alumni breakfast on Saturday. The other events I cannot guarantee.
If there is anyone else attending who will be willing to give the "FULL REPORT" from the floor of the GC or a summary after the events I believe it would be appreciated by those AFFers left behind. (Sorry for the choice of terms here, but seriously, there are some of you who are in danger being "left behind" REPENT!!!!!)
DB - I think we met via a distant wave last year.......join up and say hello this year, I will PM ya my cell.......as for the rest....looks like DB will probably be at more services than I will expect unless I can find some good shopping to do somewhere, LadyIAM will probably make me go to some of that singing........but last year at least we were able to find a table with its own monitor that picked up books on tape with pictures of other events happening in the world.......a book on tape about football, a book on tape with pictures about some people on an island and one of em getting kicked off and a bunch of other stuff..... the Little IAM that was with me kept switching to other stories other than the one down front.....and we had starbucks.....maybe we can find something like that this year too......oh well......DB.....incoming......

Wasn't there mention last year (I guess it was on NFCF) of the Ayes and Nays totaling more than the number of voters present? That was on the motion to refer TV to committee, of course. Was that ever explained? It could be that more voters showed up between the voters-present count and the vote, of course. Or could there be a more, um, "interesting" explanation?

FIRST REPORT COMING IN................................................ ......................
Well, we got to the airport and caught our flight to Orlando. We flew into Orlando b/c my wife found airfare for $137 round trip! O is only about an hour from Tampa. We picked up our rental car and much to our delight, we got upgraded from a mini van to a full-sized SUV! We are driving a beautiful GMC Yukon XL. Perfect for our family of five. We stopped in Orlando at a Pizzeria Uno for dinner and then headed to our place south of Tampa.
We had about a two-hour trip to our destination. We stopped at Wal Mart in Bradenton, FL for groceries and then on to our vacation rental home in Longboat Key, FL. We are 300 yards from the Gulf of Mexico on some of the prettiest white sand you'll ever see. The best part: NOBODY IS HERE this time of year! We found this place about twelve years ago and we have vacationed here at least half a dozen times. One of our favorite places. Not a tourist magnet and very family oriented.
We took a walk down the beach last night by full moonlight. My seven year old daughter found a fully intact sand dollar and she was very excited about it. We returned to the house and my thirteen year old son and I watched Ken Burns' new documentary "The War". We then all crashed.
We are abviously here early. Its only about an hour drive to Tampa from here. I will not be able to give a lot of inside info of what is going on in the hotel lobbies or the conference area scene. But I will take notes on the services I attend and other activities.
For now its a day to ourselves. I have to run to the store for a few loose ends. The wife and kids are headed to the beach.

Have a great time Deacon... enjoy the time of refreshing with your family. It won't be too long (less time than you actually think) till your young man (no longer a boy) will be out the door and on his own.
I am thankful you have this opportunity to get away!
I won't be able to do the reporting "live". I won't be taking my computer with me into the business meetings or the services. I will, however, try to give summary reports at the end of the day. So you all will probably know the results of the voting long before I log on. There may be others who will be able to report "live" or soon thereafter.
And thanks, Phil, for the words of wisdom---I fully intend to take advantage of the time with the family. I got back from running errands and met my family on the beach. Literally NO ONE to be seen north to south within a mile either direction! Heaven HAS to have a place simliar to this---I can't imagine eternity without an afternoon like this one! We had seagulls and pelicans feeding off of the shore, there were thousands of little feeder fish swimming everywhere. There was a an osprey pair flying low to check out the action and before we left we could see dolphins coming to the surface about 500 yards out.

Your word pictures are very nice. But, post some real pictures if you get a chance!
