i think it strange all the other stuff being preached against. i guess bro barnes wasnt a UC....lol he "sheltered" or spoiled us i guess....i have NEVER heard preaching against bows or curls...as a matter of fact...bro barnes always said you should look your best and fix your hair nice.

we knew a church that forbided the women from even using sponge Rollers in her hair. the premise was that it would break off her glory. hot rollers and those other hotsticks were of course forbidden too. the women looked very very plain.

The pastor's GROWN daughter was spoted wearing a hair bow out of town. Her father made her get up in front of the whole church and apologize!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That pretty well sums it up.

Thanks, Elder.

It would have been easier to just post my picture.

I am sure that many west coasters can affirm what i am saying is true about preaching against hair Rollers and hair perms for that matter. i recall years ago preachers preaching against even putting what they called "ORNAMENTS" in your baby's hair .

To preach a doctrine impossible to live is the greatest sin of all...Remember the Pharisees tried it...

I can agree with maybe one exception!

3.Compassionate toward people--very loving

In some cases this is true AS LONG AS you line up to their teachings. If you break a rule, sometimes you will get their wrath and anger!

I know a UC pastor who dis-associated with his own daughter when her dress didn't touch the floor when she kneeled down. Oh......she was 23 years old!

many things that use to preach, even the ultra cons no longer mandate but there are still a few extremist out there who don't allow things that most people cannot fathom.

the latest I'm hearing is against text messaging and video phones
I'm against these too. My cell phone is too old and/or cheap to have these functions so no one else should get to use them either.

Remember Bro. Shew from Ft Worth? He has been dead for quite awhile. When he would come to Denver to preach and it was like every woman re-thought her dress code which was already very very strict. He would tell any woman in the church that she did not need those bows or ribbons in her hair. He also made comments on red dresses. Somehow the men escaped his wrath....
