Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Make Sure you have the Right Bible !!

I use the KJV, and the Amplified parallel Bible. It works great for me. I also have the ESV study bible which I use for background history and more detailed information about where I am reading.

We may never truly know what the original writings were. It would be wonderful if they could be found, and set to rest all the arguments we have today about the Bible....

My husband says that he heard somewhere that the Catholic church has documents, and writings under lock and key and will not release them. They are from the earliest church writings. I haven't been able to document that myself, but wondering if anyone else has? It wouldn't surprise me, especially because they were probably writings that threatened everything the Catholic church stands for.

Re: Make Sure you have the Right Bible !!

It seems to be a common assumption that somewhere there is an 'original Greek' or 'original Hebrew' manuscript that a person could just read (providing they could read that language) and that it contains the full old or new testament. Or at least that is the view I think is taken by most KJV only types...
I think many people would be truly surprised at what biblical codex actually are and it would help them to better understand that bible literalism is just not really possible.

Ha, a persistent rumor; they have
such a vast archive, it is surely probable
that the RCC has documents that even
they aren't aware of...

And my understanding of the original MSS
isn't that they are "lost," as we have a plethora
of copies; but that they are essentially written
in an alien language? But surely even ol' KJ knew
the diff in "Passover" and "Easter?"
