well timmy, this is when the government tells you that we can not share our faith with others or they say we have to except their version of god.
communism- no god, government becomes god.
except - gays, can not have a public display of Jesus at christmas. gay marriage, telling the church what it can and can not do.
Those are important issues, I agree. I believe in freedom of religion, and freedom of expression of one's religion, as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. I'm even on the fence, kinda, about certain things, like prayer at public events -- it doesn't bother me as much as you guys might think!
But you said it would destroy your faith. Would restrictions like those you mention really do that to you, personally?

I usually vote conservative because the liberals seem to scoff and mock anyone who believes in personal responsibility and they consider that code for "being selfish".
Having been of voting age for well over 20 years now, I cannot recall any time that the liberals have embraced the idea of personal responsibility, or anyone who believes in it, and they usually go so far as to alienate anyone who voices this as a concern. All other issues aside, this keeps me going back to the conservative ticket (although I don't like either Obama or Romney).
Politically I am conservative, because I believe in limited government.
In belief I am conservative, because I have seen too many friends and family leave certain beliefs (you would call them standards) and then lose their souls and their families souls.
A quick example of one of those beliefs would be participating in athletics in high school.
It makes no sense to me why the vast majority of apostolic young people who participate in athletics in high school, lose their way.
I, personally, see nothing unbiblical about HS athletics.
However, I have seen very few who have been able to participate and remain a witness and remain apostolic.
I also speak from some personal experience, as I was one of those who was an athlete in HS and had wandered away.
I also believe there are certain "standards" given in the Bible, but we could debate those, as others see them differently.
However, my personal experience seems to back up my views, imo.

I'm conservative politically, because I've seen the welfare state system fail first hand. I believe in self-determination and individual freedom. The right for each individual to determine their destiny good or bad. I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religion. I believe every infants right to life is more important then "choice". I believe traditional marriage is the foundation of a moral and successful society as history has shown. I believe a nation that denies God is a nation that is asking for it's own destruction, also as history has shown. I believe that every man has the right to protect himself and his family.
I began my journey as a conservative in the Libertarian Party. They represent my views a little more then the modern Republican Party. I'm not a "stop war"-nut, I simply don't believe that occupying foreign countries to promote democracy is the smartest course of action especially when we forget that we're not a democracy ourselves, we are a constitutional republic, and for good reason. We have a constitution that protects individual rights from mob rule. Nations such as Afghanistan and Iraq do not have a constitution guaranteeing religious freedom, freedom of speech, (etc) which is why generally when they are given a shot at "democracy" we see extreme theocratic dictatorships form (Egypt and Libya now becoming our latest examples). Any nation that attacks us we ought to have the capabilities to bomb the living day-lights out of them, but we should not feel the need to occupy them, rebuild them, and force our form of governance on them, it doesn't work that way. I am against US Foreign Aid in it's current form. I feel like the amount of aid we give to foreign nations should be scaled back and used simply as a humanitarian emergency fund when needed, rather then spending billions a year supporting dictators who turn their backs on us at the worst times.
Domestically I'm against the drug war (this is probably the only issue I'd consider myself "liberal" on). I'm against strict gun control. I'm all for cutting welfare drastically. Personally in MY perfect world, welfare should be taken from people who abuse the system and have numerous "welfare babies" and given to good stable families who are willing to adopt. More money should be given to those who are responsible enough to raise their families to understand the concept of accountability then those who aren't.
I left the libertarian party after I realized that the party was completely disorganized, many of them supported various alternative lifestyles that I feel are counter-productive to society, and many also pushed insane conspiracy theories I just couldn't get with, even though I'm a very avid listener of Tex Marrs.
I believe there should be public hangings at the town square for the following crimes: murder, theft, and rape. All murderers, thieves, and rapists currently imprisoned should be hanged immediately to clear out the prisons. Any two consenting adults should be able to marry. All drugs should be legal and available. Abortions should also be legal and available. All male welfare recipients must go through a physical, and if deemed able to work, then be put to work cleaning cities, roads, etc. All female welfare recipients should have their tubes tied to prevent further pregnancies. All competant adults should be allowed to openly carry firearms. Only landowners, male or female, should be allowed to vote in any election. Slavery should be a system brought back, so that, if you wish to become a slave for a period of one year, you may become a slave, with an annual option to renew your slavery contract. That's just for starters. Not sure if I'm liberal or conservative, though. Maybe just crazy.
