The GOSPEL is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. These steps he took earned him the right to be called Lord and to be our justifier (by his blood) and baptizer in the Holy Ghost. That is the gospel.
The correct response in faith to the above message is to repent, be baptized into the authority (name) of Jesus Christ, burying our old man with him being baptized into his death. Then God gives us regeneration/eternal life by way of the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Charnock has a point in that many Apostolics (you included) completely skip actually declaring the gospel and preach Peter's command in Acts 2:38 as the gospel, with no explanation as to what necessitated those "steps". Thus we have shallow converts who are more in love with the "steps" than they are Christ. They find their full spiritual identity in the "steps" (the "truth") and have a very stunted experience and relationship with God.

JM and his irk are enemies of the Gospel, he hasn't even obeyed the Gospel, much less preach/teach the Gospel, why should anything he says concern a Pentecostal?
Php 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Php 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Php 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Other than that, he's probably a nice guy.
You are not applying the correct context of this passage.

I never knew any Apostolics that do not teach Jesus died for our sins and rose again personally.
Ever since McArther got publicly rebuked for his Logos Theology (Denied the Eternal Son doctrine), and changed his stance, he has been like this. He is trying to fit in with a certain segment of Evangelicalism

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
