I tend to prefer Newshour on PBS. At least they don't argue and talk 100 mph and slam other networks. All the others seem like 24 meets Walter Kronkite mashes to me.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

"The growth has not been unfailingly steady, as competitors at Fox and CNN pointed out. They noted that Mr. Olbermann did better in February and March than he has since. Still, for the year, Mr. Olbermann has managed to climb past CNN into second place in the news channel competition at 8 p.m. among that 25-to-54 group. That qualifies as a feat for MSNBC, though Mr. Olbermann’s show remains little more than a dot in the rearview mirror of Fox News. "

PBS, funded by tax dollars from the government and donations from elitist leftist snobs is UNBIASED!!!!!!! Have mercy!

And the dumbing down of a once great country continues.....

You need to re-read my posts, I previously stated that ALL news sources are biased, including the right wing propoganda machine known as Fox News channel. I only stated that I prefer PBS due to their style of presenting their biased version of the news. And I only stated that Hannity is Fox's version of Obermann, they're both party hacks full of invective and half truths.

To some extent I think one has to "sell their soul" just to get noticed and get a job in that field. The rewards are huge, the competition is fierce and when it comes to talent there's not much that really separates all of the faces trying to get behind the desk in the studio.

In that environment hyperbole is inevitable. Sad, but it's probably inevitable.

In my opinion Olbermann stands in a field by himself. He is a lone psychotic warrior to whom syntax and reason are anathema.

Steven Colbert does a great parody of Olbermann, even though that was never his aim.

Just quoting what the Word says.

Not if it's harmful to the child. I'm not advocating sweat shops or the like. But it will not hurt a kid to take a job to help out the family if need be.

I never said it was wrong to help folks out. Just that said folks ought to be doing what they can to help themselves.

Just reading what it says.

Spiritual community (the Church) and brotherly love should and do come into play. I never said they should not. We should help each other out. But if I'm needing help because I'm out of a job, I'll go do something for those helping me. I could cut their grass, wash their car, something to help defer the cost of helping me and mine. I think we most assuredly should help out those unable to help themselves.

Let's note a few things here:

Widows and Orphans - That would be women and children

In their affliction - that not keeping them needing a handout, but helping them thought their trouble.

2Th 3:8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
2Th 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2Th 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
2Th 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
2Th 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

I think that there are those in Government that want to keep people on welfare and in poverty, promising all the while to get them out, because as long as they will not take care of themselves and rely on the government, the elected retain their power.
Wow. Seriously, just WOW. You nailed it. Completely. I wish there were more people like you in this world. All I want is help getting on my feet. But the welfare system is seriously making getting myself on my feet almost impossible. But there is no other help available. Period. Even churches that do offer assistance offer just enough to barely pay the necessary bills, or put food on the table for the next week. There's no help to get into a better place where you can support yourself, and help others.

I *will* do this because I'm insanely stubborn. But I completely understand why people give up. I've actually been there...if it weren't for some good friends at the time, I would have stayed there.

To a degree. Being poor in America definitely is better than in other countries. There are programs out there, things available. But did you realize that by going to school, pursuing an education, you are disqualified for most of them? Oh, working disqualifies you for a lot of them too. Wait a second...I want out of this mess, not to be here indefinitely........
