From another thread, about a store clerk who used the name of Jesus to send a robber away:

I admittedly have mixed feelings about this story. Especially when the lady says, "The most important thing is that God prevailed - in a situation that could have been very bad."

If things had turned out "very bad" God would have been there even prevailing and showing himself strong. I am finding and slowly accepting that in our weakness God shows His strength. When the cancer is NOT miraculously healed. When tragic death suddenly comes. There is God also - providing comfort and peace. Not because things are as we wish, but in spite of the same - faith still works and He prevails.
So, it seems that no matter what happens to us, even if we would think of it as "very bad", God might think it is a good thing. We have no way of pronouncing judgment on an outcome of some endeavor or prayer or use of the name "Jesus". Actually, we must declare everything "good", since, whatever it was, God wanted it that way. ("We" meaning you guys, actually! )

Of course, this is slightly off topic. The thread is about what God wants us to do, vs the above, which is what God wants to do.

Re: The will of God

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Notice it say "all thing will work together for good" not "all good things will work together", a great example is the story of Joesph in the OT.
