When my dear husband was alive and preaching the Word he taught judgement.
He'd say get off your backside and turn the channel if something offends you or your young ones should not be seeing.
Now that he's gone my kids got extra channels for me and I can watch craft shows and cooking shows that keep me active and learning. I watch some during the day and knit and study God's word at night.
Hasn't affected my daily walk with God. He's as real and dear to me today as he was 30 years ago.
Be a parent and only watch what is good for the family.
Experience is beautiful so let me explain it like this.
When you took your precious little girl to get vaccinations they include alittle of the virus in that shot. It builds her resistance to that disease. When you are too protective and shield your children from too much it can backfire on you. Children are going to be curious and learn so what better way than to teach yourself what is right and wrong.
I have seen too many protective innocent people go hog wild as soon they do not have that constant control over them. They don't have the tools they need to make good judgement calls. Give her instruction, guidance and she will be a much stronger Christian than someone that is protected and controlled.
I think some kids see and hear things in some churches they should never have to. Gossiping and backbiting, of course some hear and see that at home too.
I was exposed to a lot of sin as a child..... from the kids at church.
I watched television at a relative's house, I went to a public school for a while..... and yet everything that sticks in my mind that I wish I *hadn't* learned.... came from either Christian school, or church. We can't completely avoid everything that could potentially be harmful, or we'd have to just sit at home.
We need to teach our children to be wise, teach them the ways of God. If a family feels that not having a television at all is best, that's their call. If another family chooses to teach their children to use it wisely, the same way they would a library, radio, computer, telephone, or automobile..... that's their call.
I would like some of the cons. to pitch in on this debate, if you are willing. Hmmm. This could be one short debate seeing as how there's only three cons. on this forum.
Ok, so I've heard preachers say that they preach against Television because it's an evil device, exc. Others preach against the content (Hollywood, exc.). What is your opinion?
Just wondering who you consider the 3 UC´s are?

I wish you lived next door! I would love to get to know you better!
I have seen this first hand with both young folks and older folks alike. The focus of their life was staying between the white lines and agreeing with the leadership of the church they attended. They couldn't take a chance on focusing on Jesus and letting Him lead them. They ALWAYS knew they HAD to agree with the leadership or go to hell. The leading of the HS was never a personal thing.
