I sang, "Iris" by GooGoo Dolls once in church in a special production we were doing. I had forgotten to print out the words, so I just grabbed my laptop, opened it up to the words, and sang away.

Just as I was headed into the second verse, the screen went blank. Dead battery. So the only thing I could do was turn around use the words that were being put on the wall for the audience to see. But the guy projecting the words wasn't going to put up verse II until I started. But I couldn't start.

The band played the interlude/intro over and over again just looking at me. It was awful. I've never even thought about using a laptop again.

Re: using a computer in the pulpit

My laptop is mostly for the scriptures I have copied in the order I wish to use them, with my detailed notes. If the laptop crashes, I know the general line of scriptures, anyway, and I do not actually need the notes to preach the message the Lord gave me for the service.

The detailed notes I do make are actually meant more for my website for people to read along with the video. That way, my sermon notes are made for other people when I make the outline for the sermon for my own use as well.
