I'm surprised no one has mentioned this scripture found in
James 5:13-16
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Several things to be learned from this scripture about healing:
1. The prayer of faith can save the sick and heal him at the same time.
2. A sinner can be forgiven sins at the time of healing.
3. Confess your faults, and pray for one another to receive healing.
And we know of course that Paul mentioned the messenger of Satan sent to "buffet" him.
II Cor. 12:7-10 7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Paul had seen the healing hand of Jesus many times throughout his lifetime, but God allowed a messenger of Satan to buffet Paul's flesh in order to keep him humble... "lest I should be exalted above measure".
So we see that our great God has a purpose in all things that He does. He can heal miraculously, and in many varying ways. And He also chooses sometimes to allow us to keep infirmities for His divine purpose also.
So... if I were in need of a miraculous healing, I would go through the steps that James mentioned.
I would pray, and I would look for any areas of sin in my life, look for any unforgiven sins, and ask the Lord to reveal those to me, and show me things in my life that needed His touch.
Then having confidence that I had cleansed my heart, would ask the elders or brethren to lay hands on me, annointing me with oil, and with faith believe on the healing hand of Jesus.
Then, if miraculous healing does not come in that manner, than I would know that the Lord had a purpose in allowing this thing in my life, and until such time as He would see fit to remove it, I would
continue in my faith believing in Him that in His great Timing and Purpose, that He would either walk with me THROUGH the situation or DELIVER me OUT of it.
Either way, it is a walk of faith.
