Stephen, I highly recommend the Tomtom One...they are the second largest manufacturer of GPS next to Garmin....but this standard model has many of the bells and whistles that the upper scale models have (and the comparable Garmin does not have the features that this one has...for that you have to go higher up in model)...I did some comparison shopping before purchasing mine about 2-3 months ago, and this was the best bang for the buck....see link below. It goes for $299

Thanks! I am actually leaning this way. Does it also give the phone number associated with the destination address?

I haven't read this thread other than the first post but here is my two cents!

I badly want a GPS unit I can move between my car and motorcycle. In particular for my motorcycle since I love to wander the rural highways of Middle Tennessee and most times have no clue where I am going.

The one big point I would make is that in my research I havediscovered that the lowest priced ones do not use or call out street names, just distances.

I think it is worth it to get one that converts to street names. There is a term for these that escapes me right now. I think a map with street names is much better than just a generic map and instructions to "turn in 500 ft.", etc.

I have not done all of my homwork yet as this is not in my 2007 budget but I do like the Garmin Nuvi line. There is a 330,360 and other models.

I have also read good things about the TomTom units.

Got the TOMTOM ONE at Radio Shack $299.00 and used it today. It's fun. I think it would be great to have a voice activated unit though.
