And I have been talking about discipling as have the others here that you mentioned. In fact, I wrote a post about some of the ways we go about discipling people.

I feel that for the most part ... and some of your comments have been good btw .... you've been talking more about evangelism, soulwinning and some perceived weaknesses of the church in regard to relationship and discipling.

Actually, I do not think the majority of churches have weakness in this area. I was trying to generate discussion on soul-winning and disciplining people according to the above stated definition. The reasons why we have so many conflicting statements is because we have not agreed on the definition.

Sis. Alvear,

I think missionaries are more acquainted with the things I am talking about because your soul-winning and disciplining , for the most part, happen outside the four walls of a church building or organizational structure.

Most true disciplining and soul-winning come from new converts who are hungry themselves who study, ask questions, and talk about Jesus to everyone they come in contact with.

Blessings, Rhoni

Love you too. So thankful that you have a heart for missions. I pray the Lord of the harvest send more such ministers into His field.

Blessings, Rhoni

I came in late on this, but I would like to share what I think discipleship means.

To me, it more than a class or a series of classes. To me, this whole is an issue of mentoring the new coverts from birth to maturity. It means standing with them when they stand, and helping them up when they fall. It means being the example one should be, and living the life as best as one should, so that even if one says nothing, they speak volumes.

Those that your church visits are my friends...the older group (not many left) however sang at my wedding 35 years ago...
The President Pastor Claudineir his first wife died in my arms in the hospital and was a precious saint of God. I wrote a poem about her and read it at her funeral. They were very kind to me when I was single and pastor Claudineir performed several baptisms for me years ago...Pastor Claudineir helped me start a church many years ago...at that time they were considered "loose" but they have always been very kind to me.

Our churches even though we see things differently have never had any problems. We consider them our friends and as long as my husband and I lived in that area we went to many of their meetings and they came to ours.

I do not think my son that took over our work fellowships them but he is not their enemy.

Rhoni in Brazil when church become what we might term as loose it goes far beyond the American concept of loose...however it is not my place too judge them by what some do for no pastor can control all his members unless it is a cult.

Pastor Claudineir is a good man and I think of him in a good light. His second wife is from Argentina. She is nice and I like her also. they have now been married many years.

There will be no problem for you to come see me I will meet you in south brazil when you come and you can visit with me at my son's church and then we will go over to pastor Claudineir...believe me he has a lot more ethics than most UC's that I know...When we worked in the same town for many years we did not take his saints and he did not take ours unless there was an agreement between us that it was for the best...I cannot say that about some others.

On my long journey I have learned that if their is no inward holiness all that outward stuff is no more than a nun's robe...and of course for the sake of those that read I have always and always will uesd "holiness" standards but not to the point I would think others have nothing...I have so many faults and failures I told someone the other day maybe if I overdo it on some things the Lord will forgive me for being so lacking in other things! After all He is full of mercy and we are weighed in His balance and His alance alone is what is important.
So have no fear when you come I will see to it that you have a nice time and take you sightseeing and shopping and if any other ladies want to go with us they can...
There is no problem on my part who you come with or who they visit. Just let me know a couple months ahead of time so I can work it in my schedule.

Love you....Your Friend Sister Janice Alvear
