Hey Pastor, for the record, I'd never purposely disrespect, insult or hurt you either.
To answer your question, yes I am serious.
JD, I don't believe you are being disrespectful. I just can't believe you would vote to reelect BO on the basis that he has been disrespected by GOP people or because of racism among GOPers. Basically you are saying that b/c of racial issues you will vote for a man who is almost in every way the opposite of what you believe politically. Race and racism aside can you say BO espouses what you believe in politically, economically, and governmentally? If he doesn't resemble you much beyond ethnicity, why would you vote for him? There are a lot of Republicans I disagree with and don't represent my views but I couldn't vote for BO any more than I could for David Duke. They are two extremes that could never get my vote. If the GOP nominates anyone even marginally conservative I will vote for them over BO. JD, do you think this presidency has been good for America? Do you think his policies and governance have been successful? I just can't believe you would for him b/c of Pat B or a handful of Nimrods here who are hicks and rednecks.

According to CBS News, unemployment among blacks is at 16.2%, 17.5% for black males, and a near 41% for black teens.
Quote:
While unemployment among the general population is about 9.1 percent, it’s at 16.2 percent African Americans, and a bit higher still for African American males.
Quote:
CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller reports that, historically, the unemployment rate for African Americans has always been higher than the national average. However, now it’s at Depression-era levels. The most recent figures show African American joblessness at 16.2 percent. For black males, it’s at 17.5 percent; And for black teens, it’s nearly 41 percent.
I miss President Bush. Her respected the willingness of minorities to work and have jobs.
I really don't think white people can understand how black people feel about racism, ever. And with a (black) President I think some black people thought they would have a chance for some wrongs, real or perceived to be righted. That is not possible for one man to do, even if he is black. So black people are offended and white people become defensive in these kind of discussions. But as Christians let's please try to remember we need to be careful what we say that might hurt our brothers and sisters.

True!
Obama being elected is like a double edge sword, some will not like him because he is half black but his race was major factor in him getting elected.

This may not be a typical African American Obama supporter:
IMHO, JD did cross way over the line with the dinner comment. That is not in keeping with what I have seen him as over the years. He came back and admitted as much and apologized (which is more in keeping with what I would expect from him).
That being said, I would hearken back to the thread I started asking whether the right was actually trying to make it impossible to be black and a GOP supporter. I think that was when Limbaugh (who is pretty influential and consequential) called the President a "little boy". I think by now, anybody in the public spotlight has to know how those types of statements will be perceived by a lot of people. There is simply too much precedence to ignore.
To go on national TV with AL Sharpton of all people...AL Sharpton and throw that out there is either calculated or incredibly insensitive...
I've got to run

JB wrote a book a few years ago laminting the fact that white people were losing America....JB isnt exactly a champion for better race relations...
He is a MSNBC Hack...

That's kind of what I'm saying. There is a part of me that wonders whether a lot of this is calculated. There is no way that someone like Pat Buchanan goes on a show with someone like Al Sharpton and accidentally says something that can be taken as racially tinged. They probably rehearsed the bit and are both laughing all the way to the bank. Things like this are probably a ratings bonanza. Both guys get googled and both are relevant for a few weeks...then it's time to do it all over again.
