Really, I think it would help reduce the spread potential by doing something like that. Every little bit helps, right?

Cindy, if you have trees that need cutting down, I'll come out to east Texas and chop some down (and be crying in the process 'cause it's just too beautiful out there), rake some leaves, and dig some trenches...

These are things that are recommended for preparing for a possible fire heading your way. But if it's getting close? Too late! Get outta there!

One guy around here attached a sprinkler on his roof, before he evacuated.

We have been blessed here, might help that people are obeying the burn ban. The fines are high.

Okay, I'd probably do the same thing. But, what about water restrictions? Are y'all not on them like DFW is? I realize you're part of a different water district, but I'd think if the major areas are on restrictions, rural folks would be too.

But, then again, you might be on your own well water...

As far as I know we aren't in our county.

Re: Fires In East Texas

This is in the county we live in. Sad and pitiful, it's not enough, I guess for some that most of our state is on fire.

Yes, we have two arson suspects on the fire in Leander. My Aunt and Uncle live there and said they had a really close call with that fire.

And this news is awesome - The Bastrop Church of Christ on Hwy 20 (1 mile down, off Hwy 71, Address: 287 Hwy 20, Bastrop, TX 78602) had a truck from the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief deliever over $80,000 worth of supplies from Nashville, TN... if you have been evacuated or lost your home, come here and we can hook you up.

Yesterday, my BIL said that someone called him and told him his house is safe. Haven't heard from him today. He said he is on pins and needles because there is nothing they can do. He wants to see his house for himself to believe it is still standing.

Re: Fires In East Texas

2 or 3 fires in East Texas thought to be arson. One suspect in custody.
