However, as one who has been beaten and worse, I do believe in self defense, and to that end I carry a legal firearm and the skills to use it, and the mental faculties to use it wisely. I do not believe that God requires I leave my husband a widower, my children motherless, and my grandchildren without the opportunity to know me, to give my life senselessly so that some crackhead can have the $12 in my wallet toward his next rock.

If I am wrong, may the Lord's mercy cover me. Amen.
Basically, I agree. I just don't believe in using lethal force.

Unhappy Re: Christianity and War

friends I will explain my earlier post in more detail.
god told King saul to wipeout an entire kingdom. However, King saul kept some riches for himself as a sacrifice and was punished. War has no rules in my opinion. It is cold and hard and should be used only as a last result.

During the Civil war my family lived in the South.Their county left the state of Alabama when Alabama left the Union. My distant family members were hunted and killed. 3 of the 9 brothers died at the hands of the homeguard.2 brothers fought in the norths; union alabama units.
When at war you must finish what you start. half war is a joke.
You finish what you start. Today we fight to many half wars. I oppose this kind of fighting we call war.

Just because God approves of wiping out civilians, you don't have to.

Re: Christianity and War

If you are a Christian, you are in a war,
right now. If God is not protecting you,
and you are raped or whatever, as hard
as this is to grasp, it is God who gave you
to this calamity, and you would be fighting
the instrument of God.

Personally, my mind
never goes there; or to whom I might appreciate
my king using the latest death-ray on.

Dordt, i did not mean that as an insult,
but a sad statement of fact; meaning,
it might not be true. I invite you to try
and refute it, as i believe that everything
you say confirms it.

My guess is that you
took some sort of Apo oath, or something?
And now this oath has become your god.
Every post you make reflects the conditions under which
you feel it acceptable to reject God, imo-
-this (frankly scary) redoubt of some imaginary woman,
whom God is with, getting raped...yikes. I'll ask again,
where did you get this tripe? Not from Scripture.

And ps, the "Russians were my enemies" thing
was priceless, lol. What makes it so funny is that
you were their declared ally, but even at the time,
were pretty much acting like an enemy. Of course
I mean the US, who you speak for.

There is nothing similar in Scripture, because
this never happens. Anyone who trusts God
could not even envision this.

Guys, I am not meaning to be rude,
but I would sure let these dead people
bury their own dead. Peace to you.

And I suppose God wants to you stand by and watch that toddler playing the street get run over. He's better off dead. Like all of us. Which is interesting, though: why does God outlaw murder?

Where do you find this, NT? Can you please see that that was the time of Law, a completely different world, and that we are in a different dispensation now? Just as Moses did not sin because he broke no commandments, the ones you ref did not have Christ to follow, and God does not approve your slander. Why take such a big step to (effectively) put Dordt away, and then put him above you?

Aquila, very nice, btw.

Ok Drech, why is a toddler playing in the street? Same ridiculous scenario, that does not exist in the Kingdom, k? Bye.
