I have combo comfort handle bars on my bike. That simply means that I have dual caliper pulls that allow me to assume the position or sit more upright and still stop the bike. After all, I am getting old!

Those hills will kill your average going up and don't do much to improve your average going down the other side.

There is a group that meets every Saturday morning and rides from Moss Bluff to DeQuincy. Round trip is about 40 miles and we average about 17 there and back because it is pretty flat.
When we are on slight downhills we get up to 14-15 but our average is 9-10. We are using the regular mountain bike tires and have not bothered to switch them over to the smooth road tires. We also can't go much faster since there are walkers on the same trails that would get upset if we blow by them too fast. (especially on the curves, since the trails wind among the trees)

I use a Garmin Forerunner 201 instead of a bike computer and it is nice to be able to go back and look at the logs, including satellite images showing your exact path. We can also compare previous weeks and months to see our improvements. I've actually blocked out an hour on my work calendar each morning for my bike ride to make sure I do it.

The whole reason coffee has come to be popular over the centuries is because of its properties as a stimulant.

Every morning, I have 2 shots of Italian Roast espresso, with half a cup of steamed/foamed skim milk and a shot of sugar-free caramel flavoring...

I don't seem to have any negative effects with this amount of coffee, only positive ones. It motivates me to not snack and also to ride my bike 10 miles every morning.
My study of the habit, indicates that if keep to a cup or two in the morning followed by exercise the caffeine actually helps in weight loss and performance. But beyond that it has too many negatives.

AMEN!

My wife packed "our stash" before leaving home and this morning the second thing I did was turn on the coffee pot (The Missus loads the coffee maker before going to bed, she doesn't trust me to load the machine, might make it toooooo weak )

BTW the FIRST thing I did was fire up the computer.

Hee heeeeeeeee

I'm drinking my usual... and had two little pieces of biscotti... in small quantities it doesn't seem to be too unhealthy.

I'm also trying not to get too annoyed at the international e-mail that came in overnight for one of my projects requesting more applications to be made available when we "froze" the application list 3 months ago...

I always pray to bring my body and mind under subjection before I start opening work emails. I have a customer who is wanting a full proposal for a huge server consolidation project by EOB today. Their lease on their current hardware expires July 14 and the decision maker is leaving for China on Tuesday and they need the decision before he leaves. Sooo, surely Phil can jump through hoops and get other dependencies to jump through hoops since we are one of only three Fortune 500 companies in the entire state of LA. Bah humbug! But I am already jumping! The Community Coffee helps me jump higher faster!
