EXCLUSIVE CENTRAL CITY NEWS VIDEO: THIS IS THE PROTESTER CENTRAL POLICE CHIEF ROGER CORCORAN has allowed to illegally occupy the shoulder of Hooper Road in front of Life Tabernacle Church and harass members of the congregation for the past three weeks. Even though the man has created a safety hazard and repeatedly violated RS 32:296, Chief Corcoran has refused to arrest the man or require him to move his vehicle to somewhere safe and legal. This is the man who has repeatedly shouted profanities at church members and made obscene gestures. For weeks, the Chief has sat quietly in his vehicle watching this illegal and abusive behavior and done nothing. The crime of the pastor and the church members is to peaceably have church as they have on more than 10,000 consecutive services over 3,000 straight weeks during the past 62 years. Rev. Tony Spell rejects the media’s repeated claim that he is “defiant.” The pastor says his congregation is simply continuing to have church as guaranteed by the United States Constitution. Now the Central Police Department and the news media have sided with this disturbed individual and made an obviously false criminal charge against pastor Spell. The video aired tonight by WAFB-TV and WVLA-TV (not this video) makes it clear there was no “assault” by pastor Spell. If the protester thought he was in danger, he certainly would have jumped back. But that video clearly showed he did not. The constitutional rights of the people of Life Tabernacle Church have been gravely damaged by the City of Central, and it’s time for this illegal and despicable action to end. — Woody Jenkins, editor, Central City News

LIVE - MOST VIEWED CHURCH SERVICE IN AMERICA - ARREST OF REV. TONY SPELL - FROM THE PIT TO THE PALACE - Live from Life Tabernacle Church in the City of Central, Louisiana. The pastor, Rev. Tony Spell, was arrested and sent to prison today, as part of the continuing efforts by Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran to shut down Rev. Spell's worship services and prevent his congregation from assembling and exercising their Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Assembly under the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Rights of the Louisiana Constitution. Today's services feature singing by Rev. Spell and preaching on the story of Joseph from the Pit to the Palace. The racially-mixed congregation has had only two pastors in its 62 years of existence — Rev. Tony Spell and his grandfather, Rev. B.V. Spell. Over those 62 years, they have met for more than 3,000 weeks and held more than 10,000 services without missing a single service, despite economic hardships, hurricanes, floods, HIV, ebola, and countless other tragedies. Rev. Tony Spell, who is often described in the media as "a defiant Louisiana pastor" says he's not defiant at all, just holding church as commanded by the Bible as he and his grandfather have done for 62 years. The church, which normally runs 1,100 to 1,500 in seven sanctuaries, has had attendance cut in half as church members who are seen in these services have been fired by employers or threatened with firing. Rev. Tony Spell was arrested in the sanctuary in late March by Chief Corcoran, who said he was enforcing Gov. John Bel Edwards' "emergency orders" against holding in-person church services. Members of the congregation have had their license plates photograghed by the police and some have been followed and harassed by law enforcement. Rev. Spell was arrested again today by Corcoran, this time for alleged aggravated assault, which Spell's lawyer Joe Long said was "trumped up" as part of the City of Central's and Edwards' continuing campaign to harass the pastor and prevent the church from meeting. He was released on bail later in the day. Rev. Spell said no edict by a governor or anyone else can suspend the Constitution, which is the Law of the Land. Louisiana's law on the governor's emergency powers specifically says in RS 29:736 that no order of the governor shall diminish the freedoms in the Bill of Rights or Declaration of Rights. The church is Pentecostal and the congregation is very demonstrative in its style of worship, but "no more so that people at an LSU football game," Rev. Spell says, and "We have more to celebrate!" Even though the church offers national caliber preaching and singing by Rev. Spell and his father, Rev. Timothy Spell, an evangelist, it has never before been live-streamed on the Internet. Rev. Spell said he resisted live streaming because it is used as an excuse for people to stay at home and can be an "attendance crusher." When the coronavirus came, Rev. Spell said he had no thought of limiting his ministry to online. Plus many of his congregation are poor and do not have internet services, he said. "Having a preacher sit in front of a camera and think that is equivalent to our church services is ridiculous," he said. The congregation and its praise and worship are an integral part of the services, he said. When the Central City News offered to broadcast any church in Central that had live services, Rev. Spell agreed. That allowed him to conduct full-fledged services online and offer the best of both worlds, he said. The newspaper also broadcast the services of Milldale Baptist Church until it ended full scale worship services in the sanctuary. The newspaper aired a live feed of a community-wide drive-in worship service sponsored by Central-area churches. That event attracted 160 cars. Meanwhile, the broacast of Life Tabernacle's services has attracted larger and larger audiences. As legal pressure on Rev. Spell has increased and mockery in the national media has grown, the online audience has exploded. Some posts or live events by the Central City News have drawn over 450,000 viewers. This service has already reached nearly 300,000 11 hours after the original broadcast. Based on the past, more than 500,000 will watch this broadcast. Central City News editor Woody Jenkins said Life Tabernacle's decision to continue to hold services during the governor's shutdown is a story of local, statewide, and national proportions and the newspaper will probably continue its coverage throughout the shutdown. Rev. Tony Spell cautions the congregation to observe "social distancing" and to either sit or walk in family groups or at least six feet apart. He said these practices are observed in his church far better than in local supermarkets and stores. The Central City News has repeatedly voiced its opposition to the governor's shutdown order. The editor, Woody Jenkins, was a delegate to the Louisiana Constitutional Convention of 1973 and drafted most of the Declaration of Rights in the current Louisiana Constitution. Jenkins said Gov. Edwards' orders violate the federal and state constitution insofar as they purport to restrict fundamental liberties. He said the shutdown has virtually destroyed the Louisiana economy. "There are other ways such as social distancing and education to fight this disease without taking away our liberties and destroying our economy," he said. This service aired live at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. The graphic saying 10 a.m. is not correct. Life Tabernacle is located on Hooper Road, City of Central, LA. Services are at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sundays and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Before the Central City News began these broadcasts, its largest online audience was its production of the State Championship baseball game between Central High and West Monroe High in May 2017. That event drew 94,000 viewers.

Meanwhile in Spain, where people can't even do that but having tiny groups and online broadcasting, are receiving the Holy Ghost, getting baptized, etc... (see Nathan Harold page for more) It is like if God is working beside the restrictions.

Sis, that is an example of bias. The protester would have definitely stayed in its place until the bus is right on his face. He might have even let the bus hit him hard. That's what protesters do. See for example the incident of Tiananmen with the protester and the tank. It is all about the protester determination.
I am not siding with nobody, I just want to highlight truth here so people can judge rightfully.
I personally think the bus backing wasn't intended to hit the protester but to threaten him, to show discontent. The problem is that he did it with a bus, instead of, let's say, walking to him and talking to him right on his face at the same level.

Pastor Spell may have a bit of a temper.

If he had simply walk to him, get supper close range and yell on his face, "I am going to put you in your place" and walk away, he might have had no charge, since there is no a tangible threat to accuse of; however, he had then shown the protester that he is annoyed.

I would be annoyed as well if there is somebody outside my church insulting the people congregating. I would have not gone as far as using a bus, though .

This is patently false. His arrest had nothing to do with church services. He was arrested because he lost his temper and was reckless driving a bus in reverse at a good rate of speed.

Again, this is patently false. Rev. Spell was not arrested in the sanctuary in late March. He was served a summons and that is it.

Woody Jenkins should apply to work for CNN. He's clearly biased in his news reporting and is including fake news with it.
