You are right ... then it cannot be as prescribed as the PAJCers ... Tongues or Hell ... especially if he was given the keys prior to speaking in tongues

Here's my theory ... it is what it is .. Josh ... Mizpeh gave evidence that he was not alone ... or somehow the missing link.

In other words, I think Jesus was saying the time would come when people might incorrectly claim the kingdom of God had arrived (via the Messiah's presence) and was present in a particular city or locale. Thus, people might be saying "behold! Here (or there) the kingdom of God is within you" ie within your gates.
The punctuation in the AV is not inspired, and this alternative reading actually makes more sense. Otherwise, we have Jesus telling the hypocritical Pharisees that the kingdom of God was within them (not "among them" as some try to suggest.) Just my opinion, though.

So ... Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom of God was within them .. before Pentecost????

did receiving the HG really rest in the hands of another individual? This definitely sounds a bit contradictory??
I am told that possibly Peter and John were simply following the Jewish tradition that required the laying on of hands by the synagogue leaders in order to appoint new leaders. Simon was not offering money for the power to impart tongues. He was offering money to be appointed a leader in the new church to be able to appoint other leaders.
4th century popes paying for their positions ring a bell to anyone?
Ya think that Peter, John, and even Paul had a hard time breaking from Jewish traditions?

They had a incomplete experience so much so, that the Apostles were need to help their experience line up with the normative intiation.
