Thank you Seekerman for bringing this to our attention that for all these years Christians have called buildings - THE CHURCH! Because of this incredible REVELATION - we now see that the building is not actually THE CHURCH or THE HOUSE OF GOD! WOW! INCREDIBLE!
I preached in a uhhhh building in Florida and it was called - The House of God! I even preached in some called The Church of God!

I have even heard people refer to the building where a man was the pastor in and they said - "Brother Jones Church"! Can you believe that???????
Well, I am sure that most everyone in this forum has been in such darkness as to think that ALMIGHTY GOD lived in a structure made by men!
Thank you for this great REVELATION and now we will all know that the Church of GOD and the House of God or the Assembly of God is NOT TRUE and they all need to be straightened out and taught the GREAT REVELATION that - The People of GOD are the actual CHURCH OF GOD!
INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let us all heed the warning and NEVER say - Brother Jones church or the Church of God or the United Pentecostal CHURCH or maybe we should not even use the word Church but Ecclesia and go back to Hebrew and Greek and all learn that because as you know - Hebrew will be the language spoken in heaven!

Let all things be done for edification. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. 28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.
36 Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
QUESTION: How are these big buildings and traditional services obeying the pattern set by the Lord through the Apostle Paul that allow for participative meetings???
The pattern and form commanded virtually REQUIRES smaller groups meeting in a more intimate setting.
Here's the purpose of biblical callings of ministry:
Ephesians 4:11-12 (New King James Version)
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Leaders are to guide and nurture the body to minister to itself, for the edifying of all. Not merely deliver sermons. lol
When one sits down with a group of 12 to 15 people in a home, opens the Scripture, and the elders teach the thoughts laid upon their hearts by the Holy Ghost, with all present allowed to participate and share their thoughts and experiences (both joyous and painful, both victorious and humbling)... one realizes they are actually having church as the Apostle Paul commanded it.
Y'all have a great day! I gotta get to all the "Church of God, Assembly of God, House of God and all other places with Church in their names and bring this wonderful new REVELATION of the WE ARE THE CHURCH to them.
Maybe we could start a movement - the www.WEARETHECHURCH.com and not have worship or teaching/preaching in anything that resembles anything people called a CHURCH in the past!
Our main message could be - YOU ARE NOT THE CHURCH because you think your building is a church and you called that building Brother Jones Church and so you are deceived and in danger of hell fire.
WE ARE THE CHURCH will bring the great revelation in the fields, woods, meadows, Forrest's, on the river and lake sides but NEVER in a building with the word CHURCH on it!
OH GLORY! I am beginning to feel this - but I do NOT want to get emotional about it! I want to reserve my emotionalism for the World Series Ball Game!
Pray for me as I go into the highways and byways - BUT NOT INTO A BUILDING CALLED A CHURCH!

Don't expect to many to answer. I've wondered about that scripture as well. It seems not to many today are having church as the early church did.

Yep, Jesus and the disciples built their buildings and called them 'churches' and then put names on the outside so folks could be sure the building was where God dwelled. Can't go wrong following the bible there, for sure.

No doubt. That's why the buildings have altars in them so that folks can go to the altar where God is and beg God to meet them and forgive them. Jesus and the disciples taught that for sure.

Are you sure you're a bishop asking that sort of question? We see example after example in the bible of Peter's church and Paul's church. They built the buildings, began supporting the building and it's trappings with tithes and offerings per Jesus' teachings. I bet the building folks called James' church was full of God.

Not gonna happen....too much money and power in the building based system of christianity. I say keep building those buildings, spend as much as you can and go into as much debt as you can....then lay the burden on the folks who now have two masters. That's the pattern of Jesus, you know.
