They were both outsiders. The point was not to treat the rich man better than the poor man.

BTW, I've already addressed the ol' suits/tie argument ad nauseum in this thread. Go back & reread before you launch your tired "points"...we've already addressed them!

What exactly did I dodge? You said the man with the gold ring was the "outsider", while the poor man was "not".
I pointed out that both men "came in".
The whole point James is trying to make is that this minister not favor the rich man over the poor man.

I explained the difference in gold rings & shabby clothes a few posts ago to you. Go back & reread it. Will not sit here & just repeat everything. Regardless, the man w/ "gold rings" was still "coming in"...not already in!

Re: Isaiah 3 and jewelry...
What in God's name are you two doing to the Text? lol
It's not made of spandex, quit stretching it to make a point that it's not written to make!
The man was in , the man was coming in, therefore that means... oh give me a break.

I know. I have no idea where he is going with the man and the ring being the outsider "coming in". They were both outsiders "coming in" He doesn't see that I guess.

My pastor told us of a preacher who preached that when Isaiah 3:18 said that God would take away "their round tires like the moon" it was a prophecy of how tires would be rationed during World War 2. That was preached during World War 2.
That may seem humorous but it's probably about as good Bible exposition as preaching about wearing wedding rings from that same chapter today.

I just ask one thing rdp, who stood up and made you the authority on scripture, that you think yours is the only right opinion? I've got news for you, you can twist the scriptures all you want but anyone with just a bit of inteligence can see you and others like you don't have a leg to stand on.

Many intelligent folks (such as David K. Bernard) agrees with the holiness stance on hair, makeup, clothes, etc.
Are you saying that non intelligent people only will believe in these doctrines?

The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.
