He did.
He mentioned and gave advice on eating meat which had been offered to an idol.
He also told women in Corinth to wear a veil in public because at that time and in that location a woman was considered loose or immoral if she appeared in public without a veil.
In the United States in 2010, neither the food offered to idols nor the veil are relevant but there may be a present day application.

Of course I agree there is a present day application
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness
Paul actually taught the church had no such custom with head coverings. History also records this was not the custom of the Jews per say. The hair was the natural covering God gave women.

So why did Paul say he was sent not to baptize? Was he wrong? Or maybe it's a type of wording the emphasisizes a greate point.

Just a small addendum to this: Isn't it interesting that the one who was wearing the "gold ring" was the one who "comes in," as opposed to the one's who were already in!
Thus, from the genre' of these passages from James [the earliest epistle] those w/in the church didn't have "gold rings," but, as today it's those outside of the Ecclessia who wear rings (ahem Jeffrey)!
Thank God for Truth..............

I replied why Paul said that. His whole point was to not make disciples unto himself such as John the Baptist did. Everyone was saying they are of Paul, or Apollos, etc.. that is why Paul said that. John was sent primarily to baptize. Paul was sent to preach the gospel. The response to the gospel preached is baptism but Paul was not sent to baptize people, but to preach the gospel. It didn't matter who baptized them in that case.

Really?
Jas 2:2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in,
Looks to me like they both CAME IN.
Would you like to clarify?
Thank God for truth.

Why tks. for asking kind sir: The difference is that the one w/ gold rings is depicted w/ wealth, while the latter is not. The signs of his pomp/wealth was "gold rings and fine apparel"....both of which are condemned elsewhere in Scripture [I Tim. 2, I Ptr. 3]. "Shabby clothes" are N-O-T elsewhere condemned in Scripture! Additionally, the man w/ "gold rings" is still shown to be an outsider...hmmmm.
Yes, "Thank God for Truth"! Gotta' run, check back later......rdp.

If that's the case, we should only wear shabby clothes! You better take back those suits you just bought, and trade your vehicle in for a bus pass.
They were both outsiders. The point was not to treat the rich man better than the poor man.
"Jas 2:8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing well. "

Nice dodge to my previous explanation concerning the difference between shabby clothes & gold rings! What "suits you JUST bought"???? What in the world are talking about?
BTW, I've already addressed the ol' suits/tie argument ad nauseum in this thread. Go back & reread before you launch your tired "points"...we've already addressed them!
